Majority of Men Would Marry Regardless of Political Views of a Spouse
For a whopping majority of Americans relationship comes before political views. A poll by Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person),conducted between 6/25/14 and 8/25/14, shed light on the subject.
During the poll people answered the question: “Would you ever date someone with the complete opposite political views?” Results were as follows: “Yes” - 72%, “No” - 28%.
Ian Kerner, a sexuality counselor and New York Times best-selling author,emphasizes that respect for your partner and his or her beliefs should be paramount. "Don't define yourself by your political affiliation. With every political view is a possible discussion where you can learn about your partner," says Ian. "If a couple doesn't share political views. they may still have good communication and conflict resolution skills, a healthy sex life, shared goals, and similar interests," he adds.
Those polled numbered 35,879. From the USA - 54%, from Canada - 4%, from Britain - 12%, from Australia - 7% and other countries - 23%.
Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, believes that in this particular situation political culture of a country doesn't play a significant role. Regardless of their involvement in politics, all people value the importance of a good relationship. Of course, it’s hard work, but perhaps, these couples are far more open-minded and patient.
