Americans Are Growing Cold to Animal Rights
Public morality doesn't stop us from wearing fur any more. This was discovered by Meetville (dating app to find the right person) over a survey, conducted between 9/5/14 and 10/14/14.
The question posed in the poll was: “Is it unethical to wear fur?” and the responses show that more and more people have no problem with wearing fur for the sake of fashion. 41% of people agree it’s unethical, 59% disagree.
The total number of participants was 31,236. From the USA - 54%, Canada - 5%, Britain - 12%, Australia – 7%, other countries – 22%.
“Consumers are growing increasingly cold to the animal rights debate”, says Mark Oaten, CEO of the International Fur Trade Federation. “Fur is becoming an increasingly common sight in the celebrity world too. Trends and celebrities do have an impact on public opinion. Animal rights activists are still shouting as loud as before, but people are now choosing not to listen.”
Another statistics reveals that among those who answered “Yes” the votes distributed in the following way: Male: 69%, Female: 31% and accordingly, those who answered “No” - Male: 72%, Female: 28%.
Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, believes that women are generally more empathetic than men and are more concerned with animal suffering. However, he thinks that such distribution of votes suggests that men are getting more and more involved in the issue.
Meetville, a leading mobile dating service, regularly conducts research among its users. Millions of people from the U.S., Canada, Britain and Australia answer hundreds of questions every month.
