Thanks for reading my profile!!This is my 2ND attempt on meetville. I had to delete my first profile because it was hacked into. So here I go again!!I'm a strong, street smart, but at times gullible woman. Most of the time I have a lot of common sense and insight. I can be a bit shy at first but I warm up fast. I consider myself spiritual ,and down to earth.I am not materialistic, but I do enjoy the finer things in life, like lobster tail in brown butter and a night out on the town. But I do NOT need those things to be happy. I can be a bit blunt, telling it like it is. But I'm not unkind and I hate hurting any one's feelings. Unfortunately I do at times because I don't always think before I open my mouth for the sake of trying to be funny. So I must say I have tasted my foot in my mouth more often then I should. I have a sarcastic ,"bust your Ba##s" quick sense of humor. So I need Someone who can take that and give it right back to me. I really need a guy who can be funny and can make me laugh as well as "gets me". Funny not corny!! OR Crude! I am a lady and expect to be treated and spoken to like one. I need to have the initial attraction to someone in order to take the next step to get to know you. I will admit I tend to be picky. If you were to ask me my "type"I would say, Darker hair with a great smile and eyes that I can look into without wanting to look away for some unexplained reason. Confused yet??I'm looking for a honest, true to himself man. Please don't respond if you are a substance abuser or smoke cigarettes, or if you are just looking for casual sex. I have learned that anything worth having in life takes work and compromise.And when you find the right one he or she should be able to bring out the best of you. Love should not make you feel bad about yourself in anyway.I love doing anything outdoors. I enjoy mountain biking,tennis,and anything at the beach, long walks. A night in front of the fireplace with a chilled appletini is a favorite winter night for me. I love classic rock and like going to see any great cover band and being wild for the night!! I am always open to trying new things. I am a hard worker and not afraid to get my hands dirty . But I am also a girly girl, and love to dress up for a night on the town with my man. Hi, I see myself as an outgoing, fun, caring, down to earth kinda gal. I love to make people smile and if I can get a laugh out of them, well, even better! My independent kids are grown, and my job gives me some time to travel, especially during the summer. My 12-year-old yellow labrador loves everyone, and sleeps all day, except when taking me for long walks, rain or shine. I do yoga when I must, but I'd rather dance: swing, salsa, blues. I regularly head out to movies, live music, theatre performances. Jazz Fest, Folk Fest: I'm there.I listen to CBC Radio. I can parallel park my average-sized vehicle in seemingly small-car spots. I let my cable tv go. Added Netflix. Never looked back. I had a heap of leafy green kale, collards, red chard, and some arugula. I'm not a fancy cook; at home I go for super-simple healthy stuff. Salads, salmon, pasta, chicken, fruit. Sushi is my idea of fast food. When I eat out, I usually choose Indian, Thai, Mexican... a little fiesta compared to what's in my fridge.I'm actively putting together plans to ease into part-time work. I'm financially secure, and I'm looking for a man who is at a similar place in his life. I am a dual citizen and can live and work both sides of the border if I chose. I'd like to meet someone who has a positive attitude, and an active lifestyle. Someone who values volunteerism, and cares about the state of the world. If social drinking is a big part of your life, we won't be a good match. I'd like to meet someone who is genuinely serious about finding that one love relationship, about becoming a best friend and partner in life. A man who has a sense of comfort and serenity about himself and who he is. I appreciate honesty and a bright sense of humour. Chances are I will make you laugh, often without entirely intending to. And I think people should try to be nice, even when driving. Depending on the situation or activity, I can be low-key and reserved or high-energy. And, it's difficult to compare myself with others but I feel I'm in very good physical shape...I enjoy hiking, cycling (road cycling and rail-trails) and still use my cross-country skis. My preference would be to enjoy your company and get to know you while we spend time together outdoors...why don't we meet up to go kayaking, canoeing, hiking, or sailing together? (There are many rivers and lakes to explore in Pa.) When I have any free time, I prefer spending it outdoors or going to concerts. I studied visual arts in college and taught arts & humanities for most of my career.- June through mid- At some point, I would like to ..canoe in the Adirondackes, sail anywhere, hike in the White Mts. of NH, Shining Rock Wilderness Area in NC or State Parks in Pa., do some star-gazing in remote areas, and find time to draw/paint outdoors. I've had to be practical while raising my daughter and have stuck it out for her (in the middle of nowhere and hours from anywhere). Now that I can retire..or cut back to an easier part-time job, I will have more time to travel. I am seeking direction on this site (but, I wonder is this too idealistic or unrealistic?..).), enjoy the outdoors, learn a folk ***, and spend more of my free time volunteering. Music: americana 'roots', folk, world, celtic, swing/big band, some rock. Favorite recent songs: 'That's the way love goes.' (Shawn Colvin &; Ride). Books: currently reading The Plot Against America. Favorite books last year: The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration, Blink, Outliers. It's also nice to get together for an activity such as a hike.
