What Is the Ultimate Work Motivation?
What Is the Ultimate Work Motivation?
Although we may have different reasons to do the job we’ve chosen, money still remains the greatest motivation for work. Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) tackled the question in a new poll, released between 12/11/14 and 1/30/15.
33,180 participants were asked the following question: “Will money motivate you to do a job you don't want to do?” While 67% of respondents admitted that money motivates them the best, 33% have non-financial stimulus to work.
Majority of participants were from the USA – 53%, from Canada – 4%, from Britain – 12%, from Australia – 9% and from other countries – 22%.
Some people work for the love of the thing they do, for the challenge their job offers or the possibility to contribute something great to society. But Susan M. Heathfield, Human Resources Expert, is sure: “Whatever your personal reasons for working, the bottom line, however, is that almost everyone works for money. Whatever you call it: compensation, salary, bonuses, benefits or remuneration, money pays the bills. Money provides housing, gives children clothing and food, sends teens to college, and allows leisure activities, and eventually, retirement. To underplay the importance of money and benefits as motivation for people who work is a mistake.”
Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, arrives at a conclusion that there are 3 reasons that motivate people to work every day: being autonomous which lets us to direct our own lives; acquiring mastery in the thing we do; and having a purpose as it gives the feeling that we can make a difference in the world.
Meetville, a leading mobile dating service, regularly conducts research among its users. Millions of people from the U.S., Canada, Britain and Australia answer hundreds of questions every month.
