Spending Much Time Together Can Ruin a Relationship, People Think
Most people agree it is healthy for each partner to take time out to explore his or her individual interests. This was brought to light in the course of the poll, conducted by Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) between 5/15/14 and 8/27/14.
The poll posed the question: “Do you think it is okay to stay apart for days from each other, for the sake of personal space?”, and yielded the following results: “Yes” - 59%. “No” - 41%.
Relationship Coach Rinatta Paries, is certain that “the best, healthiest relationships have plenty of together time and also plenty of alone time. Maintaining your identity and independence outside the context of your romantic partnership is essential in the preservation of your self-confidence, social network, and ability to contribute to the growth and progress of your relationship,” says Rinatta.
Male votes prevail in both “Yes” (67%) and “No” (65%) camps.
Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, explains that “It is important for men to fulfill their need for independence. When a man gets too close and doesn't pull away, he often experiences increased moodiness, irritability, passivity and defensiveness. And giving a man his space makes him a better, more attentive partner.”
Meetville, a leading mobile dating service, regularly conducts research among its users. Millions of people from the U.S., Canada, Britain and Australia answer hundreds of questions every month.
