People Express Contradictory Opinions on Open Relationships
Controversial public views on open relationship are in balance. This was brought to light in the course of a survey, held by Meetville (dating app to find the right person).
The poll was held from the 2/16/14 and 10/16/14 and raised the following question: “Would you consider having an open relationship where you can see other people?”. 47% voted for open relationship and 53% - against.
Total number of respondents was 163,160. From the USA - 77%, from Canada - 2%, from Britain - 6%, Australia - 4% and other countries - 11%.
According to relationship expert Leslie Gold, there are many sides to an open relationship. Both sides have valid arguments to support their position. “Some couples believe that when your life becomes a routine, challenging the boundaries of traditional relationships will help to keep the spark. The others still maintains a one man and one woman mentality and therefore considers open relationship as something immoral”, suggests Leslie.
Opinion of men and women on open relationship has also evenly divided. Among those who favor it 50% are female, and accordingly, 50% - male. Those who oppose it are neck and neck as well, male - 47%, female - 53%.
Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, concluded that men and women are equally concerned about the topic simply because in any relationship both of you have to be actively involved to make it work.
