People Are Not Ready to Spend Money in the Name of Beauty

People nowadays don’t want to spend huge amounts of money on beauty products. Meetville (dating app to find the right person) tried to find out more about it with the help of a survey, held from 10/3/14 to 10/24/14.

The poll posed the question to Americans: “Do you spend much money on beauty?” The results: Yes -22%, No - 78%, showed that most people don’t follow the “Beauty at any cost” rule.

The number of respondents to this poll was 9,429. From the USA - 65%, from Canada - 6%, from Britain - 9%, Australia – 8% and other countries – 12%.

Kat James, the author of “The Truth About Beauty: Transform Your Looks And Your Life From The Inside Out”, thinks: “People nowadays are simply too busy to care that much about buying beauty products regularly or reading beauty blogs. As to achieve your goals you have to be highly competitive, beauty obsession has slightly loosened its grip.”

The distribution of votes within the two suggested options was as follows:

“Yes” votes  - Male: 34%, Female: 66% and “No” votes - Male: 74%,Female: 26%.

Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, believes that these results indicate that women are much more concerned about being  judged on the basis of their appearance than men are. Engulfed by a popular culture which is full of images of idealized female physical beauty, many women feel chronically insecure, overweight and inadequate. Moreover, the diet, cosmetic and fashion industries are often too willing to exploit these narrow beauty standards.
