Most Americans Are Satisfied with How They Look
Most of Americans would shun the surgeon’s knife in order to grow old gracefully. This was revealed by Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) in the course of a poll, conducted between 7/17/14 and 8/27/14.
During the poll people answered the question: “What is your attitude towards cosmetic surgery?”, and gave the following responses: “Positive” - 45%, “Negative” - 55%.
Participants of the poll numbered 51,043. From the USA - 67%, from Canada - 3%, from Britain - 9%, from Australia - 6% and from other countries - 15%.
In a post on the educational medical website fromdocter.com following reasons are provided: “We’re under a lot of pressure to conform to certain idealized images of how we should all look, many people choose to go under the surgeon’s operating table to improve their appearance,” Americans have tolerant views on cosmetic surgery today, but may be having a change of heart towards it.
Men responding negatively outnumber women; males who voted against cosmetic surgery - 66%, females - 34%.
Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, says “Men are less likely than women to count “maintaining an attractive physical appearance” as essential to them and therefore women are far more in a favor of a little plastic intervention.”
Meetville, a leading mobile dating service, regularly conducts research among its users. Millions of people from the U.S., Canada, Britain and Australia answer hundreds of questions every month.
