How Many Parents Allow a TV in Their Child’s Bedroom

Parents have differing philosophies on how a child should be raised. To shed light on the this Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) released a poll, conducted between 4/29/14 and 9/9/14.

The poll posed the question: “Would you let your kids have a TV in their room?” Those polled were both for and against in equal measure: “Yes, I would” - 49%, “No, I would not” - 51%.

According to the article in the online archive of question wisegeek.org, those who are opposed to televisions in the rooms of children assert that the child will spend less time interacting with his family, which can lead to less of a sense of being connected to the family. Despite the arguments against it, many parents feel there is little to no problem with letting kids have their own TVs. “Some parents feel that making rules for television watching and enforcing them is enough, and they trust their children to follow these rules when they cannot supervise them.”

94,636 participants represented such countries as the USA - 46%, Canada - 4%, Britain - 14%, Australia - 8% and other countries - 28%.

Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, believes that “Although the approach and attitude to this problem varies due to lifestyle and traditions, parents, regardless of their nationalities, want the best for their children and act accordingly.”
