Cheat and Love - Is It Possible?
Some people do cheat on the ones they believe they love. In a poll, conducted between 9/30/14 and 1/26/15, Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) asked 78,325 people to answer the following question: “Can you love someone and cheat on them?”
People from all over the world took part in the poll: from the USA – 87%, from Canada – 2%, from Britain – 4%, Australia – 3% and other countries – 4%.
They say if you love someone, and cheat on him/her, then you really don’t love this person. An individual wouldn’t be looking for someone else if he/she loved his/her partner. Jillian Kramer, a writer, states: “I believe true love, among many other things, is selfless and sacrificial. And there’s nothing selfless or sacrificial about having an affair. When you cheat, you are putting your needs and desires above the needs and desires of your significant other. That’s not to say that in some cases, an affair isn’t spurred by the cheater’s own deep needs that have every right to be met by their significant other and simply aren’t, whether that’s a need for affection, positive affirmation, or sex on the regular."
Love and cheating can’t exist together. Jillian Kramer adds: “All I’m saying is let’s call a spade a spade: You may still care for, like, or even admire your significant other while cheating. You may have valid reasons for seeking out someone else to meet your needs. Your S.O. may be a total tool who refuses to love you the way you deserve to be loved. But if you're cheating, you’re not in love with him.”
Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, says: “Cheating may be a sign that the person who does it is not satisfied. Humans tend to make mistakes, especially in relationships, but many couples think that cheating and saying you still love someone is probably one of the worst things partners could do. There is no place for such thing as cheating in serious relationships based on true love.”
Meetville, a leading mobile dating service, regularly conducts research among its users. Millions of people from the U.S., Canada, Britain and Australia answer hundreds of questions every month.
