More than half of Americans favor making marijuana legal for adults. This was indicated by a poll, carried out by Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) between 7/25/14 and 9/1/14.
People were asked to respond to the following question: “Should marijuana be legalized?” 57% replied in the affirmative, and 43% replied in the negative.
According to political analytics in GALLUP, global performance-management consulting company, “This acceptance of a substance that most people might have considered forbidden in the late 1960s and 1970s may be attributed to changing social mores and growing social acceptance. The increasing prevalence of medical marijuana as a socially acceptable way to alleviate symptoms of diseases such as arthritis, and as a way to mitigate side effects of chemotherapy, may have also contributed to Americans' growing support.”
Participants numbered 38,542.From the USA - 47%, from Canada - 5%, from Britain - 12%, from Australia - 8% and from other countries - 28%.
Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, observes that “Legalization of cannabis is making slow but unstoppable progress across much of the developed world. More Americans favor legalization than ever. Whatever the reasons for Americans' greater acceptance of marijuana, it is clear that interest in this drug and these issues will remain elevated in the foreseeable future,” says Alex.
