How Long Does the Couple Need to Date Before Getting Married
Hint: It's longer than you think.
It's not a secret that nowadays it's taking much longer to get married than it was before. Young people want to get to know each other better before getting married and that's why it takes so long. Though, it's not the only reason for such a long waiting. These days people tend to spend more money and effort on weddings, which means they need to save money for a longer period of time.
According to a new survey made by the wedding planning app and website Bridebook - average man and woman date for 4.9 years before getting married.
It might seem shocking but wait for some more data. An average couple date for 17 months before moving in together, live together for 22 months before getting engaged and have 20 months of engagement before finally getting married.
It influences not only the time couple spend together before the marriage but also the age of the bride and the groom. Just 46 years ago an average age for a new married couple was 22.6 years old for a girl and 24.6 years old for a guy, when today this number is much bigger - 30.8 years old for a girl and 32.7 years old for a guy.
Surprisingly, even though nowadays couples spend more time thinking about getting married, the number of ceremonies taking place each year is rising by 2.7 percent. And at the same time, 90% of participants of the survey mentioned that they felt less pressure to get married than their parents' generation.
As the survey shows that number of divorces is likely to decrease in the foreseeable future, it is to be considered that marriages are becoming stronger than ever and have a good influence on couple relationships in general.
