Do People Despise One-Night Stands?

“People approve intimate relationships without taking any responsibilities. This fact was highlighted by Meetville.com (dating”

People approve intimate relationships without taking any responsibilities. This fact was highlighted by Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) in the poll, conducted between 9/3/14 and 11/19/14.

In the mentioned above poll people were asked: “Is it slutty to have a one-night stand?” The majority (62%) believe that it’s acceptable to get intimate without any emotional attachments. Though 38% of people consider one-night stands to be a fall of moral values.

Lauren Martin, senior lifestyle and dating writer, considers casual sex more intimate and genuine than long-term relationships: “Because these experiences are about connection. Real, honest human connection. They’re about letting someone into your weird little world for the night and accepting both of you as what you are.” She adds that one-night stands help you to reveal your true nature: ”You’re free to be yourself, to unleash your desires and your innermost thoughts because you know you will not see this person again.”

53,293 participants of the poll represented the following countries: USA – 51%, from Canada – 3%, from Britain – 13%, Australia – 8% and other countries – 25%.

Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, points out that as long as one-night stands may leave you feeling excited and revitalized, yet they’re not a remedy for inner emptiness, rather a temporary escape. Casual sex is good just for a short period of time, but later on people tend to seek for a long lasting and devoted relationships.
