First dates are usually very stressful and awkward, no matter how many dates you’ve already had.
So, to make this experience more relaxed and pleasant, remember these easy and simple rules. Be sure that they would help you to make this date the best first date in your life.
The main thing to remember is to be yourself and enjoy the evening with your date. But even though it seems quite easy at first, there are still some dating etiquette rules that you need to know.
Here are the dos and don’ts that can help you to enjoy that first date, and to let things move to the next step in your relationship.
Do be yourself — Don’t try to be somebody that you’re not
This is by far the biggest mistake that people make on the first date. If you try to be somebody that you’re not, it’s going to come out down the line. Though you want to put your best foot forward, you also have to be true to who you are. By being yourself you can ensure that you find a perfect match, and you never get caught up in any lies. So consider this before it ends in a dating disaster!
Do pick a good meeting spot — Don’t go for anything extravagant
If you’re planning the date then try to keep it on middle ground. You don’t want to go super cheap, but you also want to be careful not to go too extravagant either. If you pick a mutual and comfortable meeting spot, then it puts you both at ease from the start. Ignore the intuition that tells you to go for the most expensive place in town, as it won’t set the right tone. Make it nice but don’t go overboard and it will make for a great tone from the very beginning.
Do take the time to talk about yourself — Don’t go overboard and forget to listen
This should be a great mutual conversation and way to get to know each other. Most of us have a tendency to talk a lot when we feel nervous, and you may need to tone that down a bit. This is your chance to talk about yourself, but do take the time to listen as well. You don’t want to be perceived as overbearing, so find that nice balance and share things about yourself but don’t forget to take time to listen and get to know your date.
Do try to enjoy yourself and see where things go — Don’t let your nerves clam you up
At the opposite end of the spectrum, you also don’t want to clam up and be quiet the entire time. Try to give yourself a pep talk before the date and be sure that you work through the nerves. A little nervous is healthy and normal, but too much can make the date go the wrong way. Go in with a positive attitude and let yourself enjoy the process. This will help you to have a good next step and actually enjoy dating again.
First dates could be very nervous but not when you’ve met each other on Meetville. When you have a date with your perfect match you fell easy talking about everything in the world and have a feeling that you know each other for ages. So don’t wait until your one and only finds you. Do it first!
