When I was kiddo, my dentist told me that one could tell more about a person from their teeth and their shoes than from having a conversation with that person. His philosophy has stuck with me. I always knew that it could have more than one meaning though. Perhaps it could illustrate a sense of self-assuredness, or an understanding that one’s presentation has a lot to do with one’s success.; and the shoes can show his or her character. But life sure has a way of molding us and shaping our future – I have had many experiences and roles over the years. As well, I love my job and find that it gives me a great sense of accomplishment and unlimited upward mobility as few other jobs ever have. As I have grown older, I have matured, improved, and have become more selfless and self-assured, and I want to be an amazing companion. I want to sit down each evening and compare the day’s events; to listen and to be heard. I want to satisfy my partner’s needs as well as recognize that her needs are my needs too. My ideal companion also has learned from her past, and allows her life experiences to serve her in the present *** becoming a burden. She has inner strength and confidence, and expects to be treated well and with respect. She is independent and strong; and while she does not need me in her life to find purpose or balance, she certainly enjoys her life more with me in it. She is attractive – and that comes from her inner balance, not from a particular look that is deemed beautiful by society. Her ability to stay positive keeps me coming back for more, while her genuine honesty in her actions mean more to me than any “cookie-cutter” response to a profile question. I want to be deeply and inescapably head over heels in love with a very unique and special woman; a woman who walks straight and tall – in her own shoes. HELLO! So…I grew up in So Cal but have lived out of state for 8 years...I'm back in Cali now but not living in the same area I did when I left; All that said, I might as well be new to the state!; I am very happy with the relaxing and still convenient life style and all of the open space...not that I wouldn't love living at the beach again; that will come if its meant to be;I really love a woman who is comfortable in her own skin and that likes hanging out on a sailing or lake boat as much as she likes going to a black-tie party…. I really enjoy long conversations about almost anything, I just like to know what makes a person tick. Psychology has always intrigued me; why do people do what they do? I really like a woman that is passionate about her goals and is working towards them. I don’t necessarily mean professional goals, any life goals can be just as important and inspiring…I really love charitable goals, there is nothing better than someone who is passionate about giving back! I don’t really understand people who don’t at least try to make forward progress in their lives. The way I see it, if your not moving forward and setting new goals as you achieve your old ones, you are just dying. I’m really open minded socially and politically and really don’…that’s really unfair?; I'm always willing to explain exactly how I feel about something. A few years back I went through, by far, the lowest point in my otherwise charmed life; it taught me a lot about myself. I’ve learned to be more compassionate, accepting, and kind to people who are just having a rough time in their lives. I really didn’t understand how hard life can be prior to this dark period in my own life, when it seemed like things would never get better, can you relate? All of that is behind me now and I’m moving up quickly again. The great part is, that I’m a much better person as a result of those dark days. So, if you've been there or you ARE there, I probably CAN comprehend and relate...believe it or not! I will do my best to help if we become friends…I am a fun loving very active person. I love to ride my mountain bikes or my off road motorcycle; I like 4X4’ing, but recently sold my 68’ Bronco Rock Crawler. I Love, love, love playing volleyball, especially two-man sand, on the beach of course! I like to camp, RV, wake board/wake surf or just surf in the ocean. I am a hard core water-baby and am as comfortable in the water as on land. I also enjoy diving, snorkeling, playing tennis, and golf (but I do suck at golf and I don't care...so up tight golfers don't like me!). I love all sorts of boating especially sailing in the tropics (I went to a sailing academy years ago to learn to be a bare-boat charter captain...so I sail and you drink Pena Colada's!). As you can guess, I like adventures and all active stuff; I have traveled to more countries than I can recall on multi-month excursions. Also, I have been to most of the states but haven’t seen as much of em’ as I would like, so more road trips (or flying around) is in the cards! I am an amateur photographer/art promoter and am starting to publish (I can’t say I’m a “pro” unless I actually make money from it…right?). I really enjoy meeting new people over a great class of wine, a craft brew beer or just a coffee/tea…you won't get any pressure from me. I certainly don’t expect anything romantic just because we connected through a dating site, so please don't stress about what us meeting means or doesn’t mean. I just like to take it easy and see what happens…OK? I like to say: “I don’t like anyone who doesn't like me” and I really mean that…I feel sorry for my female friends who have been unfortunate enough to meet a miss-guided guy that they couldn't get rid of!Also, just an FYI, I’m not big on much electronic communication before meeting someone in person (isn't it kind of a waste of time?). I feel like there is absolutely no way to figure out if you have any sort of chemistry with someone unless you meet face to face...good old quality time together! I’m perplexed as to why someone would want to find a pen-pal (or avoid meeting in real life) on a dating site unless they were being deceptive…Well, if you like any part of what I have to say, give it a try and we can get to know each other…Worse case scenario, you’ll end up with a new friend who invites you to do fun stuff! G I am very creative, yet also analytical. I am the type to make suggestions, but respectful enough to ask what you enjoy. PLEASE do not confuse that with being indecisive. I can make plans and handle business! However, I would like to learn about what makes you happy, and how you prefer to spend your time, and plan something we will both enjoy.I am easy; I can handle any environment. I respect others enough to know that not everyone has the same comfort level. To be realistic, if we start with something on your terms in your comfort zone, whether a few preliminary phone conversations, coffee, tea, lunch or dinner, I am comfortable regardless. I prefer to meet for a drink and/or dinner. No movie. No super loud environment.My friends describe me as a nice guy, a modern man's man, a former bad-boy, and a respectful and driven person with old-fashioned values and a big, kind heart.
