I was born 6 weeks early with a medical condition and spent three and a half months in hospital before finally coming home. From then on every week I would be going to doctors, having tests until I was diagnosed not only having a medical heart condition but also cerebral palsy and hearing impairment. This is why I got involved with the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre. I was about 2 years old when I joined the group. I went to group with my mum for two days every week and I must say I did not like it. They would make me do stuff, put things on my arm, arm wraps, making me hold on to things getting me to look and use display pages with pictures and words that I did not understand. People touching me helping me talking to me, making me try and do so many different things. All I wanted was my mum and to be in her arms and safe away from all the people. So what I could do was cry, and that I did a lot of. My mum, dad, older sister and older brother were very great. They were all so patient and helpful and wanting to do the best for me. At home they would play and talk to me but always using the communication pages, book and making sure that I was in a good supported position and always encouraging me to try and do things myself. They never stopped trying and learning how best to help me. As time in group went on and because of all the help I got from my family I started to realise that all this work they were making me do wasn’t so bad. I could actually do stuff and these pictures and words they kept modelling in front of me I started to understand, so then I myself started using them. 2. My name is Sabrina (nickname is Sabby) and I am 23 years old. Sometimes I'm in a wheelchair and I can walk as well so easy but just with helping hold my hand (like bf and gf or husband and wife do it). I can hear sometimes as well and am using my iPad to talk to people (because I have communicate) and I can speak but it's a bit little hard for other people to understand what I am say that why I can type on my iPad to talk to others and then they can understand me. Let you know that you can type on my iPad to talk to me when get 1st meet up each other and whatever you can speak to me that I can read at people's lip and make sure if I can't understand what say that I can tell you to type on my iPad. My family, support workers and friends always help me do everything the BEST that I am so lucky to have amazing family, support workers and friends. 3. I love to go out to somewhere, shopping, and movies. Love to get away on the holidays. Having fun with friends, support workers and family. I love work and gym. I love computers and programs. I love to more jokes and laugh lots. I'm kind person, smart to know right things, I'm being funny girl and happy. I work at Cerebral Palsy Education Centre (CPEC) and as Speech Pathology Assistant - I help speech therapy people do work for them and some children who have a cerebral palsy that I teach them to learning more about communicate, using the communication book and communication devices. 4. I lives with my parents and 2 dogs. I have one older sister and one older brother. We are very lovely in the family! We are all catholic religious in the family! My mum and dad were born in Croatia with their parents and siblings. My sister, brother, my cousins and I were born in Australia Melbourne. My sister and brother not live with me and my parents now no more that my brother lives with his girlfriend and my sister lives with her fiancé. 5. I have a my support workers that they are working with me for gym, my work visit and sometimes they can taking me out to somewhere and meet up with guy on my 1st date because I can't go by myself that why it's not safe and better I can go with a support worker. If guy don't mind that someone can come with me to meet guy on my 1st date and then if we likes each other that we can go out without anyone if guy know better what to do with helping me and I'm so easy. My support workers can drive, my taxi driver can drive, my family can drive and my some friends can drive me around because I not drive never. 6. I am looking for kind partner but just dating more first and then see what will happens each other and then if we feel comfortable, good and happier to be each other. One day we will make our stronger relationship. I need to have a so nice man to be my partner that guy can help me do everything - like that I need guy to cook, take me to bathroom, feed me to eat and give me a drink, take my clothes off/put on, fix my hair and whatever if I need to help. Help me to walk around and take me out to somewhere.
