Traditional vs. Modern Medicine: Which Is Better?

“People all over the world rely on the power of medicine. Though it’s still unclear”

People all over the world rely on the power of medicine. Though it’s still unclear which one, traditional or modern, is more effective. In a poll, conducted between 10/16/14 and 1/8/15, Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) asked 57,957 people to answer the following question: “Do you prefer traditional medicine to modern medicine?”

We have seen a balance in responses: 49% – Yes, 51% – No. From the USA – 61%, from Canada – 4%, from Britain – 11%, Australia – 7% and other countries – 17%. It’s remarkable that most of the negative votes (72%) belong to men.

Modern medicine is prevailing in developed countries. It allows more people to live a healthy and more fulfilling life. However, there is also a dark side to it: its high cost along with its side effects make many people adopt herbal medicine as an alternative.

According to Cynthia Yip, feature article writer, “Modern antibiotics are usually seen as having a quicker effect, but traditional medicine aims to restore the long-term balance of one’s body. Modern medicine may seem more effective, but in fact, it often treats symptoms using direct methods, which usually further harms our bodies.”

Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, assumes that combining both traditional and modern medicine is a great way to go. The benefits of the blend are amazing: western medicine relieves immediate symptoms and traditional methods help to gain a more integrated healing experience.
