Society Criticizes Housewives and Supports Business Ladies
Nowadays, an increasing number of women are holding the view that they should be career women instead of being housewives. Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) indicated the trend with the help of a poll, carried out between 7/23/14 and 10/13/14.
54% voted for women to choose business when asked: “What sphere is more preferable for a woman? Business or Housekeeping?”
In the UK, it is estimated that 20% - more than a million – of small and medium sized businesses are majority women-led. “Women entrepreneurs show a substantial boost in well-being as their businesses mature, demonstrating the personal return on investment that comes with venturing into entrepreneurship,” comments lead author of the report Donna J. Kelley - Babson College Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship. “Our research found that the benefits of entrepreneurship extend beyond economic and social value. Clearly, entrepreneurship provides women a most satisfying career choice.”
Despite the rising trend of a business woman, results of our poll indicate that women are still more inclined to become housewives. Among those, who chose the career path there were 36% of female votes; and women who would rather be housewives accounted for 40%.
All the participants numbered 51,803, and the contribution of the represented countries was as follows: USA - 67%, Canada - 3%, Britain - 10%, Australia - 6% and other countries - 14%.
Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, explains that because of much stress that the business career bears for mothers, women often tend to look for more suitable options. He refers to the New York Magazine’s interview with Kelly Makino, who gave her reasons for choosing to be a housewife.
Meetville, a leading mobile dating service, regularly conducts research among its users. Millions of people from the U.S., Canada, Britain and Australia answer hundreds of questions every month.
