Society Believes Men Should Not Be Given a Right to Decide on Abortion
Most people agree that it should only be the woman who decides on abortion. In the course of a survey, held from 6/9/14 to 7/24/14, Meetville (dating app to find the right person) raised the question of male rights in abortion.
Participants of the poll were asked: “Does a man have the right to decide on abortion?” And the responses were: Yes - 41%, No - 59%.
With 50% of respondents from the USA, 4% from Canada, 13% from Britain, 8% from Australia and 25% from other countries, the total number of participants was 35,532.
Tom Head, Civil Liberties Expert, explains that most people agree “women need to have complete control over their bodies as choosing a medical procedure for the body inevitably involves health and safety risks.” He also adds: “Men may not always be perceived as rational choice-makers simply because they don’t have the unique experience of bearing a child.”
It is interesting to note the following statistics: “Yes” votes - Male: 78%, Female: 22% and “No” votes - Male: 72%, Female: 28%.
Father’s rights in abortion have not been much discussed and are often neglected, says Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst. He believes it is the reason why more men want to be involved as much as possible and take responsibility instead of always being confronted with the woman’s decision.
