Public Opinion on Monogamy
Public Opinion on Monogamy
Being loyal to one person is the basis of long-lasting and happy relationships. This was illuminated in a survey, carried out by Meetville (dating app to find the right person).
The poll was held from 9/8/14 to 1/5/15 and was based on the question: “Do you think monogamy is important for a successful relationship?”, and had the following results: Yes – 66% and No – 34%.
The total number of respondents was 75,338. From the USA – 88%, from Canada – 2%, from Britain – 3%, Australia – 2% and other countries – 5%.
People who fall in love want their feelings to last forever. But is it possible in real life? Helen Croydon, woman’s issues and health journalist, considers that monogamy “fulfills only one corner of our emotional, romantic and sexual needs. The belief that we can find one person to meet all of them is one which is very likely to be considered radical in the future.”
It is interesting that among those who think monogamy is not essential for successful relationships votes distributed in the following manner: male – 30%, female – 70%.
Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, says that no two couples, no two individuals are the same and we all should respect that. But it’s a fact that with so many options and choices available, the concept of monogamy for life is fading.
Meetville, a leading mobile dating service, regularly conducts research among its users. Millions of people from the U.S., Canada, Britain and Australia answer hundreds of questions every month.
