Prostitution: What Do People Think

“In a world that increasingly accepts sex as a part of life, prostitution remains a”

In a world that increasingly accepts sex as a part of life, prostitution remains a taboo. This was indicated in a poll, conducted by Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) in the period from 7/21/14 to 9/11/14.

The question of the poll was as follows: “Is using a prostitute a taboo for you?” Even though the results were more or less balanced, more people frown on prostitution. 53% voted “Yes”.

A popular blogger Dragos Roua comments: “The modern definition of prostitution have been built on the sex taboo. There is this obsession for everything sex related which made prostitution one of the most incriminated activities on earth. If sex wasn’t so important, selling it for money wouldn’t be such a big issue.”

Respondents numbered 52,356. The attitude towards prostitution varies from country to country. The results indicate that among those who don’t support prostitution 62% were from the USA , 4% - from Canada, 11% - from Britain, 7% - from Australia and 16% - from other countries.

According to Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, “Different attitudes are also largely due to the laws which are imposed in the countries, which obviously affect the citizens and their opinion on the question. Yet, many people have moral reasons not to do it, regardless of the state of affairs in their country.”

Meetville, a leading mobile dating service, regularly conducts research among its users. Millions of people from the U.S., Canada, Britain and Australia answer hundreds of questions every month.
