People Quit Facebook over Addiction Fears

There has been a growing number of people who are leaving Facebook. This came to light in the course of a poll, carried out by Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) from 7/3/14 to 9/3/14.

People were asked to respond to the following question: “Would you consider deleting your Facebook account?” 61% don’t want to be a part of the social network anymore.

According to Danny Sullivan, a blogger at Search Engine Land, “Concerns over Facebook's new privacy policy and the online social network's recent efforts to spread its information across the Web have led some of the site's faithful to delete their accounts -- or at least to try to. In addition to that, people are reporting that the site can actually make you feel less, rather than more, connected to actual human beings. Whatever reasons they are driven by, today as Facebook continues to grow, not everyone is simply along for the ride,” explains Dan.

The total number of respondents was 41,537. From the USA - 55%, from Canada - 4%, from Britain - 11%, from Australia - 7% and from other countries - 23%.

Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, believes that the statistics indicate there’s definitely a rising trend. “Not only is Facebook more often challenged by other services, but also the attitude of the people experiences major transformations,” says Alex.
