Majority of Americans Not Willing to Share Finances

Most couples in America want to maintain their finances separately. This was revealed in a poll, consucted by Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) between 5/19/14 and 8/19/14.

People answered the following question: “Joint bank account or separate bank account?” The results show that the majority of 55% are in favor of a separate bank account.

Jeremy Vohwinkle, financial planning expert, is certain that deciding between holding a joint bank account or separate ones requires communication and patience. “Usually, couples who trust each other completely and have similar spending and saving habits can consider opening a joint bank account. However, couples may not feel comfortable with the loss of financial independence, especially early in the marriage,” says Jeremy. “Examining the benefits and drawbacks of all the options will help lay a strong financial foundation and ensure that each spouse is on the same page.”

Respondents numbered 73,058. From the USA - 89%, from Canada - 2%, from Britain - 3%, from Australia - 3% and from other countries - 3%.
