Is the Use of Birth Control Wrong?

Only 31% of people are totally against the idea of contraception. Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) measured public opinion in a poll, conducted in the period between 9/12/14 and 1/13/15.

People were invited to answer the following question: “Is contraception morally wrong?” Out of total number of 81,346 participants, 69% (56,180 people) are positive about birth control.

Respondents from the USA made up 85%, from Canada – 2%, from Britain – 4%, from Australia – 3% and from other countries – 6%.

Contraception prevents birth, it doesn’t kill a living being. In fact, people with free access to it tend to delay and space out when they have babies. Also, birth control has a big impact on the financial, professional and emotional lives of men and women. It is closely related to a variety of positive outcomes in family, children’s well-being, health, and overall life satisfaction. According to Adam Sonfield, executive editor and a regular contributor to the Guttmacher Policy Review journal, “The scientific evidence strongly confirms what has long been obvious to women. Contraceptive use, and the ensuing ability to decide whether and when to have children, is linked to a host of benefits for themselves, the quality of their relationships, and the well-being of their children.”

On the other hand, Peter Baklinski, journalist for LifeSiteNews, states that “Contraception artificially blocks the life-creating potential of the sexual act between a man and woman. Contraceptive drugs are unhealthy to the human body and are known to cause such problems as weight gain, heart attacks, cancer, and even death. It’s only common sense that taking a drug to suppress a naturally occurring healthy function of a woman’s body, namely her fertility, can only mess up her health.”
