How Many Americans Opt for Life Insurance

Most Americans believe that life insurance benefits in the long run. Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) found that out in the course of a poll, conducted in the period from 5/13/14 to 9/8/14.

The question of the poll was: “Do you think life insurance is a wise "investment"?” The responses indicate that the majority consider life insurance a good decision: “Yes” - 65%, “No” - 35%.

Respondents numbered 81,098. Among those who think life insurance is vital for the family’s well-being 87% were from the USA. In comparison life insurance in Canada had only 2% of support, in Britain - 4%, in Australia - 3% and in other countries - 4%.

Richard W. Duff, author of the book “Retirement Breakthrough”, refers to an example of Malcolm Forbes. “In December 1989, Los Angeles Times reported that much of the income of Forbes was used to purchase enormous amounts of estate tax-free life insurance. Two months later he died, and his son Steve took over control of the company to uphold the family business. The important fact here is that Malcolm had the foresight to deal with his own mortality and make this perfect investment.”

It is interesting that with a margin of 34% (67-33) life insurance is mostly voted against by females.

Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, comments on the results: “It is mostly men who consider this option because still more often than not they are the primary breadwinners of the family. But regardless of the sex two groups are most likely to need life insurance:middle-aged couples saving for retirement and parents of minor children.”

Meetville, a leading mobile dating service, regularly conducts research among its users. Millions of people from the U.S., Canada, Britain and Australia answer hundreds of questions every month.
