E-cigarettes in Public: Various Opinions Expressed

“People are not against e-cigarette smokers in public places. Meetville.com (dating app to find the right”

People are not against e-cigarette smokers in public places. Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) released a poll, where question read “Should e-cigarattes smoking be banned in public places?”

The poll was conducted from in the period from the 6/14/14 to 9/15/14. Both contradictory opinions had support, yet with a margin of 10% (55-45), smoking e-cigarettes in public places was mostly supported by participants.

Rebecca Smith, medical editor from the Telegraph, explains that “e-cigarettes were developed as a way around the smoking ban because although they deliver nicotine they do not contain tobacco or give off smoke”, therefore they cause no harm to bystanders. However, the opposing side is concerned about the health risks and thinks “we should stop manufacturers advertising the devices as ‘smoking cessation aids’ until they provide scientific evidence, and calls for rules against fruit, sweet or alcoholic-drink style flavours which may encourage younger smokers,” suggests Jenny Hope from Daily Mail.

The regulation of e-cigarettes is a priority issue for many countries now. Public opinion is crucial for the implication of the related policies. 37,286 participants of the poll gave an overview of the SQ in the world: from the USA respondents made up 53%, from Canada - 4%, from Britain - 12%, from Australia - 7% and from other countries - 24%.

Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, concludes “e-cigarettes have significantly increased in popularity and are now receiving serious consideration from legislators. This means with more countries banning e-cigarettes in public, others are prompt to follow suit.”
