People are exploring the possibility of entering a marital agreement. Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) conducted a poll in the period from 7/8/14 to 9/18/14.
The poll posed the question: “What is your attitude towards marital agreement?”, and yielded the following results: “It is necessary” - 52%, “I don’t care” - 48%.
According to an article in USA Today “personal-finance expert Suze Orman encourages every engaged couple to get an agreement to protect their current and future assets as well as to shield them in case a mate secretly runs up massive credit card debt.”
Elizabeth Gilbert, author of the blockbuster tome Eat Pray Love, explains why she got a prenup: "Marriage is not just a private love story but also a social and economical contract of the strictest order," she says.
Participants numbered 52,670. Among those who prefer to plan their family future thoroughly 66% were respondents from the USA, 3% - from Canada, 10% - from Britain, 6% - from Australia and 15% - from other countries – 15%.
Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, observes that “Divorce has increased not only in frequency but also in acceptance. As marital trends change, so do attitudes. Today marital agreements are especially popular with celebs, wealthy businessmen and women, who are always in the public eye.”
