Lawyers to Handle Conflicts Between Spouses: Needed or Not?

“Lawyers are not welcomed to solve conflicts between spouses. This fact was highlighted by Meetville.com”
By Alex Glover June 14, 2021

Lawyers are not welcomed to solve conflicts between spouses. This fact was highlighted by Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person), in a course of a poll, conducted between 9/2/14 and 11/28/14. In the poll people were asked: “Should third parties (lawyers, attorneys) be involved in case of disagreement between spouses?”

All couples have conflict situations, there are probably no exceptions. Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott, best-selling authors of numerous books, including Love Talk and the award-winning Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts, state: “One of the most common misconceptions in marriages today is that fighting is a sign of an unhealthy relationship. All couples generally fight over the same five things: money, sex, work, parenting and housework. Most argue about these five issues over and over again because these are all stressors that speak to our sense of love and fairness. But you can learn to fight about them in a healthy way.”

56,164 participants of the poll represented the following countries: USA – 64%, Canada – 4%, Britain - 10%, Australia – 7% and other countries – 15%. The majority believe that a couple should solve its problems without the help of third parties.

Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, believes that there is no way to avoid conflicts between spouses, the thing is to learn to deal with them. Conflicts are a part of any marriage, although many couples avoid admitting this fact. What is important is to try to solve any problem within the family without the help of third parties. Overcoming every tough situation will strengthen a couple and maintain mutual understanding in a marriage.
