How Harmless Is Flirting when You’re Married
For many people being married and flirting is quite acceptable. Meetville.com (dating app to find the right person) measured public opinion in a poll, conducted in the period between 10/9/14 and 1/22/15. People answered the following question: “Is it okay to flirt at work when you're married?”
Number of respondents 65,627. From the USA – 60%, from Canada – 3%, from Britain – 12%, Australia – 7% and other countries – 18%.
Married people should avoid flirting as it may have a big impact on their family life. Christina Pesoli, a famous author, states: “Your outside interest will weaken your marriage. You may justify what you're doing by telling yourself that it has a positive effect on your home life because it boosts your mood. But what you refer to as a mood boost is actually an ego trip.”
Any serious relationship means some sort of commitment and respect. Kurt Smith, a blogger, thinks: “Flirting is fine if you're not in any kind of relationship, the same goes for the person you're flirting with, but if you're married, or in a serious relationship, flirting with someone else is wrong.”
Alex Cusper, Meetville service analyst, says: “Many people don’t see the difference between flirting when they’re single and flirting when they’re married. One of the biggest problems in marriage is that people lose interest and excitement. That’s why the best idea for spouses is to keep flirting with each other.”
Meetville, a leading mobile dating service, regularly conducts research among its users. Millions of people from the U.S., Canada, Britain and Australia answer hundreds of questions every month.
