5 Reasons He Lost Interest After the First Date
You felt like things went really well on the first date. You were happy to spend time with him, and you felt like he was too. So what happened? Why does he ignore you after that all-important first date?
The truth is that he may have lost interest, and he doesn’t really know how to say it to you. It may have been something that happened on the first date or something that he picked up on, but you may not win him back. You should know that the reasons he lost interest can be different.
This may actually not be your fault at all. He may not be in this for the relationship type of thing, and therefore, he sent off the wrong signals. Or probably he thinks that you are ready for a commitment and he’s simply not. It may be that the nerves got the best of both of you, and, therefore, you just couldn’t seem to find that connection. You may not necessarily get the answer that you want or any clue at all. But in the end, it’s simply about learning from these dating mistakes and never making them again.
Don’t let this make you feel bad, but rather let this be your best indicator for learning. If you can put yourself out there in a different way, then it may lead to love with the right guy. If you felt like the date went well, then reflect upon these common issues that may cause him to want to run for the hills. Take heart for the right guy that will see you for all that you are and, therefore, you shouldn’t let this feel bad. Here we look at some of the most common reasons why he may have lost interest quicker than you even realized.
He thought you came across as fake and immediately lost his interest
This is an instant turn off for a guy though it may be no fault of your own. You may have been trying your best but the nerves took over. You may have been trying to make a good first impression, but somehow this came off as trying way too hard. No matter what caused it, if he perceives you as fake or contrived then he doesn’t want to date you. You know why? Because he can’t be sure of exactly who you are.
He thought you just wanted a boyfriend and came off as totally desperate
Men absolutely hate desperation, and that means that you need to avoid this common pitfall. Don’t focus on how much you want a relationship or how you want to settle down. Never come off as desperate, just try to play it cool. Even if you really do want to be in a relationship, don’t let him see that or sense it for this can indicate that you will date just about anybody and that’s never good.
He thought you were too much work or too high maintenance
Men want to know that you can be somewhat independent. He doesn’t want you to come off as a lot of work, needy, or too high maintenance. He wants a girl that he can talk with but who can also hold her own. If you come off as the type of girl that he is going to have to really work to make happy, then he really wants nothing to do with you. Sad but true, a bit of independence will always win him over!
He just wasn’t attracted to you or you didn’t seem to mesh well
It may have been nerves but ultimately he doesn’t see a connection at all. He needs to feel some chemistry or at least that the two of you mesh well together. Be sure that you are always yourself but if there’s not a connection, then it’s better to recognize this early on so that neither of you wastes your time.
He really doesn’t want a commitment and is only interested in one thing
This is the type of thing that you can’t possibly have any control over. If he is only interested in one thing or if he simply wants to date for fun, then he may pick up on the fact that you want more. Better to see that this is who he is now rather than wasting your time, but it may indicate why he hasn’t been in touch since the date.

There are so many reasons why a guy wouldn’t ask a girl out again, but none of them really matter because a girl should just do what she feels is natural for her. If you’re changing your behavior to try and make guys like you then you’re setting yourself up for failure. Ultimately you’ll never be able to be yourself around them and the relationship will never work. If you’re naturally shy, find a guy who likes shy girls. If you’re the type of person that sits on their phone all day, find a guy who doesn’t mind.
