People VS Scientists
There has always been this question whether the love at first sight is real or not. A lot of people have claimed that they have actually experienced it. There have been such love stories even among famous people. Prince Harry claimed that he was sure that Meghan Markle was the one for the first time he has seen her. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi had a similar story. And many other famous and not so famous people felt something different when they saw their future love of their lives for the first time. But what have exactly they felt?
Scientists have had numerous researchers on this topic and many of them have reported that there is no such a thing as the “love at first sight”. In fact, you can fall in love with a person after you have just met him/her. You may feel a very similar feeling to love, though it would be nothing more than sexual attraction or infatuation.
If you’re really looking for the answer to this question, firstly you should decide what is love in general. Or, even more importantly, what is love for you?
Some people identify love as a chemistry and a sexual affection between two partners. In this case, love at first sight is a real thing. Though, for others, it’s more important to find out more about this another person, find common interests and values, get to know their good and bad traits of character. For such people, the process of falling in love is quite long and they manage it step by step. They truly work on their feelings and relationships and, honestly, this kind of love stays the longest.
But aren’t there actually a magical moment when you find your one and only and you feel that this is “your person” from the very beginning? I say, it’s very individual. I want to believe that one day I will see this guy in the crowd and will realize that he is my one and only (just by one look at him) and we will live happily ever after 🙂 Honestly, it sounds more like a fairy-tale and the real life is much more complicated.
Whether to believe in love at first sight or not it’s your decision. But if you are still curious about finding out more about this phenomena, here are some interesting facts about love at first sight:
Men are more likely to fall in love at first sight
The research shows that men tend to fall in love faster and easier than women. Particularly, experience the love at first sight. The reason for that may be explained by the fact that women are more selective about their future relationship and they don’t choose their possible future partner only by their attraction towards this person.

We are more likely to get attracted to a beautiful person
Sometimes I hear from my friends: “I’m in love with this actor”. But are they really? They have never even met him but what they have experienced is an attraction to his appearance and charm.
Another example is to imagine yourself in a crowd of people. The person you are more likely to feel love at first sight with would be more beautiful than others. He/she would be the first one to catch your attention and you would be more likely to get attracted to a prettier person than to average one.
Love at first sight may lead to a relationship
Despite all we have just discussed about how love at first sight is not real, it may actually lead to a serious relationship. Even though it’s extremely important to base your relationship not only on sexual attractiveness but also on their personal qualities, the first thing that attracts you to someone is their physical appearance. If you really feel love at first sight towards someone, you can always develop this feeling into something more than a general attraction.
It’s quite interesting to know what makes people fall in love with each other. Don’t worry if you have never experienced love at first sight. This feeling seems extremely romantic in books and movies but in real life it might be not so perfect.
And if you have ever experienced love at first sight, share your stories in comments!
