You want to show that you are a great catch, and you put a lot of time into thinking this through. You do your best to demonstrate that you are a good match and that you are going to really try to win them over. Yet after just one meal you can’t figure out why they seem turned off. Though it may not have come out in the date, something is keeping you from getting to the second date time and time again. The problem may very well be your table manners, and if you don’t get a handle on them then this could cost you future dates for quite some time to come.
This is not an area that a lot of people want to think they are victims of. Many of us may think that we have good table manners, and therefore we are shocked when we dig deep and find that this is the biggest problem for us. We don’t want to believe that we are doing something repulsive or unattractive, and therefore we tend to skip right over this. It couldn’t possibly be us, right? We couldn’t be the real problem when it comes to impressing on the first date, could we? The reality can hit you hard, and therefore if you want to know what makes up the worst table manners then you can be sure to avoid falling into this trap.
Though you may do your very best to win over your date, if you exhibit bad table manners then you may as well kiss this person goodbye. This shows that you are not refined, or that you simply aren’t in tune with what you are putting out there. This is a very unattractive trait and you want to do everything in your power to avoid this type of behavior.
1. Chomping your food with your mouth wide open: Nobody wants to see or hear what you are eating. Nobody wants to see that you have no sense of self-regard to the extent that you are chomping on your food like a cow. You might not even realize it, but ask your friends or family that will tell you the truth. This is easy enough to fix, but you need to be aware that you are doing it first. Stop chewing with your mouth open and watch your attractiveness factor go up exponentially.
2. Slurping your drink: This can be almost as bad, and it’s a very common bad habit. If you are slurping away on your drink or even on something like noodles, you are literally grossing out the person sitting before you. Do not fall into this trap because it is instantly unattractive, and it’s really easy to control this. Slurping on your drink means to them that you are just too out of touch with reality and what you are putting out there.
3. Sitting slumped over or with bad posture: You might not think of this one readily, but if you are sitting there slumped over it shows a lack of confidence. If you sit with your elbows on the table and with bad posture, it’s an instant way to say that you simply don’t care. The reality is that you must sit straight up with shoulders back to show confidence and self-awareness too.
4. Being rude to the wait staff: This is a horrible way to represent yourself, so don’t do it! Never be rude to the wait staff, for this will not impress and it may scare them away. Be polite, courteous, and if there is a problem handle it with dignity. You might not realize it but this is a reflection of who you are and how you act, and they are looking at this intensely.
Nobody wants to admit that they have bad table manners, but it’s best to recognize it and fix it. This can make a huge difference in getting to the second date, so if you fall into any of these traps fix it now or pay later.
