Today, I am back from a annual beach vacation with my children and extended family. Traveling with my five (ages ***is never dull. Staying with my siblings, their spouses and my nieces and nephews is never quiet. The travel time interrupted my schedule and I missed my early morning workout routine. Normally, I wouldn't be overly concerned, but I have signed up for a number of obstacle mud runs and will pay for it later I am certain. Exercise keeps me moving and focused and satisfies the competitive drive in me. It might be said that I'm the work hard-play hard type of girl. Lately I have been learning about self-awareness and exploring meditation, reflection and yoga. I think it's a good balance to the dancing and singing frenzy which have been my go-to stress relievers for some time. Don't get me wrong, I still intend for Friday night to find me on the dance floor playing with the music that I know from the radio and my children. Anything with a beat is good (including top 40, salsa, techno, house and dubstep). I haven't experienced country music to that extent (although there is some appeal to having cowboy boots and a hat). I'm witty, sarcastic and somewhat irreverent and how I do love to laugh! This whole experience of shopping for humans has cracked me up for hours at a time. Hours. Literally. Online matchmaking is a fabulous concept. How it makes one feel both empowered and pathetic simultaneously is AMAZING. Isn't it? I love the questions in our profiles about cars and drugs. Are these helpful to anybody? Is it actually possible to live as an adult in the suburbs (most of us with children) without having a car? Has anyone actually seen someone answer "yes, I do drugs"? I mentally chuckle every time I read a profile. I don't know about you, but I really struggled to choose my intent. So let me spell it out directly. I am looking for: connections (emotional and intellectual), someone to play with and share a laugh. Bonus points for attraction. Your thought processes are so different from women and I find that entertaining. If we don't spark, we can be friends. I do believe in that urban myth.If you are interested, interesting, happy and like-minded, send a message. Don't just say "hi" or the equivalent of "How you doin'?". Engage me in conversation. Show me what your personality brings to the table. Past experience has taught us all a few lessons (hint - use spell-check and watch your punctuation). LOL. No, I'm serious about that one. Physical attraction, while not the sole criteria, is important and it doesn't send a message that you are hiding something.New experiences, new lessons, new discoveries, new friends are the goals this year. I have really been enjoying life the past few years! I have gone snow tubing, skydiving, skiing, and ziplining. I’ One of my favorite things is sitting around a campfire with a group of friends.I work hard and I am proud of my accomplishments, but work definitely does not define who I am. I work so that I can play. I enjoy being independent, but would like to have someone in my life to share new adventures with.I would describe myself as affectionate, open-minded, and optimistic. They should have a body type category called "toned, but clutzy" -- that would be me. I enjoy festivals, outdoor concerts, hiking, camping, and spending time with friends. I enjoy college football, but have to confess that I don’t always keep up with how my team is doing. Last summer I took up cycling and I recently started running. Well, jogging really. Or maybe it's just really fast walking. I took skiing lessons a couple years ago and, although I have not mastered it, I really enjoyed it! Wait, did I say I took up cycling? I should have said I bought a bike.I'd like to develop a friendship first, rather than diving head first into a relationship. If something more develops from the friendship, great! If not, we've both made a new friend.A few random items: I am highly allergic to cats. I don't understand hunting; I have nothing against it, I just don't understand wanting to kill an animal for sport. If you are looking for someone who is very religious or conservative, I am not the girl for you. I like being outdoors, especially if I have an ample supply of SPF ***have you seen my pictures?). I don't watch TV, other than a few shows I catch online. However, I still have the ability to be a couch potato on occasion. You don't need a TV for that, just a couch.A few things I've learned from internet dating:1) Many people do not know how to spell.2) Way too many people take pictures of themselves driving. Shouldn't you be watching the road??3) Lists are funny.4) People who don't have pictures in their profile are hiding something.5) Group pictures are not helpful if I can’t tell which one is you. And besides, it’s awkward asking you who your hot friend is and can I get his number. 6) Internet dating takes away some of the mystery and adds a different kind of mystery. I haven't decided yet if this is a good thing or a bad thing.7) Not many men have pictures of themselves smiling. What's up with that?8) The definitions of "athletic" and "average" seem to be debatable. Looking like an NFL linebacker does not make you athletic9) I am no good at thinking of clever things to say in *** never really know if there is true chemistry until you meet in person.***You will always have at least one friend who thinks you are crazy for doing the internet dating thing.***You probably ARE crazy for doing the internet dating thing.***It's a great feeling when you find out that someone you are attracted to is attracted to you.***It's a terrible feeling when you discover they are a total wacko. Something simple... meet for coffee or a drink.
