My friend just GAVE me a guitar, so I'm trying to learn that on my own too. Those comical tryouts will eventually be uploaded to YouTube (or sent in to Funniest Home Videos). I'd prefer to go somewhere that it's easy to hear what the other person is saying, gauge their reactions, I love to laugh, tell and hear stories, and make other people laugh.
