Well, giving it another kick at the 'ole meetville can. I've met some great people here, so who knows, maybe this time will be the last time (fingers crossed, because you have to admit, it's a slightly shady scene sometimes!). And to that end, as always, I'm being 100% honest here. Who knows, maybe it'll catch on!I'm an outdoorsy kind of person. I like to hike and kayak and camp, as long as I don't have to carry all my food and shelter around for days :) There's nothing like watching the ocean to remind you how insignificant you are in the grand scheme. At the same time, I'm a total city girl. I love that I can walk to work. I enjoy eating out and meeting friends for a glass of wine or a movie. My dog would rather play fetch on the commons than almost any other activity. Work takes a lot of time, but I enjoy it and feel very lucky to have found something that suits my personality so well. Though I'm a bit of an introvert, I appreciate sarcasm and laugh at anything and everything, including myself. I'm attractive, smart and in good shape. And wow this is starting to sound like the"why should we hire you" section of an interview!Who am I looking for? If I knew maybe I'd have found him by now! Basically someone who doesn't take life too seriously, laughs easily and has themselves sorted out. Someone who is kind and curious. I know better than to confuse education with intelligence, but if you don't ever read we probably won't get along. Books are awesome after all :P I'm online because I'm out of other ideas. Maybe if I went to church I'd meet someone there? And who has time to loiter around the grocery store? I'm looking to "settle down" without "settling". My life is pretty great in general, but it would be nice to have someone to have a glass of wine with at the end of the day. And I'm sorely in need of a travel partner. It would be awesome to find something long term, though I'm not really optimistic about finding that here. My mother has always told me, "It's not so much that people change, but that they become more truly who they really are." The experience of authenticity, for me, is much more a process of uncovering, that discovering. Lofty words, right? But what does it really mean? My path is the process of figuring that out.I love to read. I love to follow my curiosity down twisting paths of research. I love to combine science, nature, literature and daily experiences into syncretic creations that I can share with clients and congregations. I love to public speak. I love to laugh and have a truly obnoxious appreciation of puns. I love my parents and enjoy long conversations with them both, on a weekly basis. I LOVE my kid! She is the most amazing person I have ever met and has taught me more about how to practice authenticity, in the past 8 years, than I could have imagined possible. I love being a mother and all the opportunities to become a better person that if presents. I love the intense aliveness that I experience when I am intimately connecting with people. I love to listen to people's stories about what is real for them, what makes them come alive, regardless of what that is. Enthusiasm is a huge turn on for me. I have been losing my hearing since I was 5 years old and am now almost completely deaf. I have phenomenal speech-reading skills, and most people would never know how hearing impaired I am. My hearing loss leads to some of my most contradicting realities. I love music, but can't understand lyrics. This may be why most of my favorite music is either world or ***, although I am an avid fan of classic rock. Oh, and the blues - that's a wabi-sabi thing, for sure. I love to listen to people, but often I hear more of what is not being said and that can offend some people. A lot of people hide behind their words, not realizing how much their body language is giving away. Because of the energy it takes, I am not a fan of small talk. I'd rather sit in silence with someone than exchange banalities. I value face-to-face communication above all else, but have a kid-on-Christmas-morning love for technology, too. Texting and FaceTime rock! Good God, I have no idea how to answer this. So much would depend on you! I love to learn and experience new things, and since enthusiasm is such a turn on for me, I can imagine that sharing something you wildly enjoy would work. I can imagine that meeting for coffee or frozen yogurt, over a game of Scrabble or Clue, could be fun. I love taking long drives and motorcycle rides. I really enjoy DIY projects and power tools. I enjoy boating and being on or near the water. I love hiking and discovering new places. I also enjoy cooking (and eating), as well as watching others cook.
