Do you wonder why my profile indicates that I live in Nanaimo/Lower Mainland? Well, I travel back and forth from the Island to the mainland once every 4 to 6 weeks or so to visit with my aging mother, whom I adore. While I have been living on the Island for quite some time now, I am not opposed to a move should the reasons be valid. Many of my family members and a good number of my closest friends reside on the lower mainland, so it would serve me well to consider relocating to another locale. I would definitely consider a move 'for love' if the right person was located elsewhere. And yes, I'm actually 54 not 50. I have found that some of my closest friends are in their late forties, so don't want to discourage anyone from dropping me a line, even if they are a few years younger. While I say this, I am not in any way wanting to discourage a relationship with someone my age or a bit older....just as long as they have the same energy as this young-at-heart grandma. : )I value my ability to laugh at my own mistakes, pick myself up from the 'school of hard knocks' and embrace new relationships with renewed joy. I have spent a considerable amount of time healing from a long term marriage that ended, sadly, six years ago. My ex- I am at peace with the inner knowledge that my soulmate is out there. I have full confidence in the fact that God's heart is for us, and He delights in the idea of bringing two like-minded/hearted individuals together for good things. Life is a beautiful mystery....an adventure that I am so delighted to be a part of. :-)I welcome each new day with renewed hope and enthusiasm. My three grown children and grandchildren are a very important part of my world, even though each one of my children have found new careers in varied locales across the country. I deeply value my relationships with my family and closest friends, and they continue to hold a very special place in my heart. My work continues to revolve around the creative arts and music, which have been my focus of study in University and College throughout the years. Walking beside women and children who have experienced trauma/grief continues to be my greatest passion; *** and encouragement remains my greatest love. I have spent many of my adult years in a mentoring/coaching position in a smaller city on the Island. My education/training involves: Special Ed, Psyc, Literature, Visual arts and counselling.This is the year that I have been embracing my love for sculpture, and have been welcoming the expertise and experience of a sculptor/mentor friend who has truly walked the creative path before me. His work is shown in a myriad of venues across the world, so what a wonderful opportunity this has been!!! It is my hope to continue to pass the torch by mentoring others, as I have for so many years in the past. Gaining new knowledge in varied genres continues to be one of my greatest passions. "Life is beautiful' INDEED!!! :- A well-aged glass of wine in a little neighborhood pub would suit me fine, as well.....meet me there??? :-) I find comfort and satisfaction in the simple things of life, but do love to be spoiled too. I guess meaning I value my family,friends and life in general. My interests are golfing(room for improvement,but enjoy it just the same),tennis,swimming, hiking,walks, gardening,basically anything outdoors. Especially around water.. I have learned that if you keep one foot in the past and one in the future you will never go forward. So I take each day and continue to move forward with both feet and enjoy all that life has to offer.(and there is a ton to enjoy) I love weekend getaways, heading out for the night, cooking together,or just relaxing cuddled up at home sharinga nice bottle of wine. My original goal was(certificate in Crim. and Business) was law , the system and had many yearsworking in the courts while going to college. And I am still hooked on changing our laws. Yet,I have remained in the Hospitality industry(Hotel)and have been on the management end for over 20 years now. Love it as it has worked for me. And have the opportunityto meet people from all over the world. I have a wonderful, close family,great friends, but feel someone is missing. I am looking for friendship at this time with hopes of it developing into something more down the road. I want to grow young with someone who wants just be spontaneous and just go with a whim whenwe want to. I have two wonderful children who are my life and I am am so proud to be their mom. And they are both very successful in life.They are at an age now they have lives of there own. I miss making lunches, being a taxi driver and all the responsibilties of a parent.Callme crazy.They will always remain my top priority. I do now though have time to share with someone special. A crazy romantic in many ways and love to spoil the one I am with. Been awhile so look out. One last note. I am in good shape, but still have the odd cigarette. I do understandthose that find it a bad quality and I respect that, as I am not very proud of it myself.But in the same respect I am happy with who I am. Lets meet and take it from there. I am not one to sit at Starbucks for hours. Would rather do a walk, meet for a bev,driving range, what ever we both decide. Just meet and see.
