Changing my profile as a final effort before signing off the site. I KNOW this is a practical option as we're all very busy and it's just tough getting opportunities to meet people. You see someone at the gas station or the grocery store and you WANT to say HI but you miss your chance. Unlike the small town where I grew up, you don't get a second chance as you may never see that person again - even though they live minutes away.So here goes...I am fit and active and, around that 50 mark, proud that I'm able to keep up with the 20-somethings I teach and train (college courses and baseball players). I have a business about which I'm passionate, I have cool related jobs with media, presenting and training. I have one amazing 8-yr old with a simple set up and none of the complications that can often go with that. I enjoy occasional excursions out but do prefer dinners and wine with friends, exploring and being active. I'm even half-way handy...mostly out of necessity but I have to say it's incredibly satisfying to fix stuff (even if it's simple) and figure out home maintenance. And yes, like so many of us here...I have a great family and amazing friends. I'm fine and independent on my own but am looking for that person to connect and share with.So if I am the girl next door, small town roots, big city balance, active, intelligent, I golf and I even like to cook, clean and bake...why is being here so depressing? I get some interesting *** don't follow up and then far too many keeners who consider themselves "active"-yr old photo is a good idea. I mean...wouldn't you RATHER have someone say you're better looking than your picture rather than gasping in shock at your first meeting? If you are positive and intelligent (doesn't always mean a degree either!), active and athletic (NOT meaning compulsive and perfect as it really should be fun), have integrity and cherish character but don't take yourself too seriously...oh...and if you have a recent photo and think we have common ground and appeal...I'd love to hear from you.If you like camping (sorry, not so keen if that's your passion...willing to try but not hanging out at Mountain Co-op looking for sales on winter camping gear), monster truck races (might be fun on occasion but not a hobby) and watching sports over being active...pass...neither one of us truly needs one more coffee date that seems to be THE longest hour of your life!Good luck to all fishing! Firsts dates are tough enough as it is. I picture something simple like a coffee or a drink. As an active option, perhaps hitting the driving range or a quick skate. I think that any social situation is going to give you an indication of whether you want to get to know more.P.S.need to update and clarify...connecting can be challenging. I am not looking for endless *** PLEASE understand that first contact can be a challenge as you figure out someone else's schedule. I'm not by a phone much during the day and don't live by my mobile so need some patience for that first bit but I am there and look forward to meeting you!ALSO...this is nerve-wracking for me! I'm used to helping others and that's my space and comfort zone. Calling you back may take some courage building as it feels like I'm back at a grade 8 dance and being turned down to dance by the cute guy! Anyone else feel like that...if they're honest? If not, way to go. I present for a living, not scares by stage, camera or audience...but calling you back DOES make me nervous!
