When people are asked to describe themselves they tend to lock up and give the standard cliche answers. You know the ones. "I'm smart, funny, and laid back. I love to have fun and want to meet other people to have fun with." While that may be the case, it's not intriguing in the least. Profiles start to run over into each other until one isn't distinguishable from the next. Such is the world of online dating. I'd like to think that my profile won't be one of those that blends in with the thousands of others floating around on the internet, but I know better.Now that you've read that, you are probably wondering why I even bother with online dating. Well, despite my cynical nature I do have a little bit of an optimist in me. While the likelihood of me meeting my "soul mate" on a website is rather slim, I might just be lucky enough to get some decent conversation out of it, and I'm not one to turn that down. It's one of my weaknesses. I suppose this is all done for the sake of curiosity. Something may or may not come of it. What have I got to lose, right?I want to start the obligatory description of myself with this: I am a huge geek.Dont get me wrong im not the typical Star Wars shirt wearing kinda geek though lol as I am actually a pretty cool SOB as well... I find it's usually a good idea to lead with that since some people have an aversion to all things nerd related. If the thought of video games and reading too much bothers you then I am not your guy ;) I play RPGs, know too much about conspiracy theory, and watch a ton of discovery channel. Besides being what some may call being a geek I am also what I like to refer to as being a music Nazi. All that this means is that I enjoy almost every genre...well maybe not classical so much but I do have a favorite piano composer...Ludovico Einaudi. I find music as an escape from this monetary society we all live in.What are some other things I should share? Oh, right. Well, it's really more the theory behind it. I find it very intriguing and I usually bring it up in conversation randomly. It's a good way for me to gauge the personalities of people around me. Though it's not completely accurate (because the test only judges self opinion which can be very skewed), it gives me a baseline to go with when interacting with others. It's fascinating and helpful.See? I tend to do that with things I truly enjoy. If you let me get started, I may never shut up. Don't hesitate to tell me if I get into that mode. Everyone needs someone to tell them to shut up occasionally.Enough about me, I am also supposed to mention what I am looking for in this mini biography. To start off, I am not looking for something incredibly serious. If a relationship were to come about from this profile I would prefer to start off as merely friends, if something sparked from that, brilliant!I am simply not the type of person to rush into things with my heart on my sleeve...learned my lesson a long time ago! Also, don't contact me if you are too opinionated, a "clubber", own more than 20 pairs of shoes, can’t speak clear proper English, use Pseudo psychology as fact based opinion, or have the rhetorical "all guys are the same" theory. What I am really looking for, like I have said before, is good conversation with interesting people. I am not looking for people who want to seem cookie cutter and perfect. I'm a genuine guy. I believe in working hard and striving to reach my goals. I'm a jack of all trades and do my best to always use my knowledge to help the people I love. I'm a bit old fashioned when it comes to dating but I still have a few tricks up my sleeves.One of my favorite things to do in life is learn. I know it sounds cheesy, but life is too short to not try to figure everything out. I'll probably sound nerdy in saying this, but I'm very intrigued by theoretical/quantum physics. I admire the spirit in scientists in trying to figure out how the world works and going against the grain trying out new ideas. I also have a trait (which usually, but not always ends well) in that I refuse to pay someone to do something unless I absolutely cannot do it myself. This started with my first car. The first time I had to do a repair on it I decided to teach myself how to work on cars so I could be self reliant in that area. Shortly thereafter I found myself building my own stroker motor (for those of you not quite as car savy - a stroker is basically taking the engine that came in the car and making it bigger). I have a passion for designing and building things. When I was in high school I built decks on the weekend and before I joined the navy I did commercial construction.. I built the bars in Whiskey River haha.This profile might not read like it, but I've been told I'm a pretty funny guy. I try not to take things too seriously until any level of seriousness is warranted. I'm extremely sarcastic so if you aren't quick witted you might mistake my humor for stupidity. I don't like to hold back my humor and love making people around me laugh. I have a hard time saying no to dares and the only thing I'm afraid of is the fact that I'm not afraid of anything. I think I'm going to get myself killed one day haha. I love trying out new things and picking up new hobbies. I'm very comfortable staying in my house and taking things slowly; but when I get time off I love getting out and experiencing all that this life has to offer. When I get to be old and retired I want to have a lot of stories and experiences to pass on to my grand kids. I went to NCSU for a few years, studying electrical and computer engineering. I had to leave because I was trying to work my way through school and found myself in a financial struggle, hence I joined the navy. While I was in I was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and held an executive office under the student senate president. I picked up a good sense of style as well as developed myself as a gentleman. I believe in being a traditional southern man and presenting myself as such. I do well with parents and the older generations in general because when I'm not being crude and humorous with my friends I'm always polite and respectful. I look people in the eyes when I talk to them. I'm very comfortable around strangers.I'm very ambitious and have big goals for myself. I'm looking for someone to enjoy life with. I'm not giving away my surprises. Nothing too intense, but something fun and relaxed.
