About Me

I'm an Opera Singer turned Federal Police officer working in the Horse Mounted Unit Training Barn of the National Park Police.  If careers were everything, it would be safe to say that I love the arts, nature, horses, and stay healthy and fit. Fortunately, there is more to life than career and I relish my time to cook, eat, taste, and avail myself of new experiences.  I love to cook and I try to make the rounds of the newest restaurants and am continually educating my wine palate with classes and exposure to new and glorious bottles. I love to read and see films and live performances.  Other than a few emblematic books, my reading tastes range from classic literature to true crime novels to historical fiction to science fiction.  I love film, whether high art of selections like Raise the Red Lantern and The Danish Girl, or high quality Hollywood epics like the Bourne Identity and the totally underrated Wall-E.  Live performances--music, dance, or theater are essential to my being.   What my friends would say about me.  I decided to just ask  my best friend what she would say and committed to inserting it here, in quotes. Laura is conscientous, hard working, constantly working on self-improvement, but refreshingly silly and at times goofy.  Fortunately, she reins in the goofy at all the appropriate times.  She leans hard toward arts, food, wine, and nature, but I've dragged her to some political events--seriously left-leaning--and she has admitted to enjoying them or learning from them.  She is definitely upping her fashion game, but not the person to bring to the front row at NYFW; she's just not that interested.  She is one of the most adventurous people I know and will give anything a go, at least once.  Except for eating bugs.  She does have her limitations.
