I'm not nearly as attractive as my profile pictures pretend I am. So, yeah. Ha ha ha ha -- no seriously.Charismatic go-get-er, that's me! I think I'm hilarious, which I'm going to issue out as a warning that I'll probably laugh harder at my own jokes than anyone else will. I like people who are straight forward about things and will talk about crap that is bothering them -- I don't like totally unfun guessing games where the only reward is a coin toss of hubris and regret. I like people I can have a conversation with, and a sense of humour is really important, as well as a willingness not to be a douchecanoe about social justice issues, and a willingness to listen as well as talk. I used to party a lot, but I'm honestly kind of sick of that scene -- I'd prefer hanging out at a pub rather than going to a club these days, or go see a band or have some coffee. Also I have basically made an academic career analyzing nerdy sh*t and talking about popular culture, which I still like to do quite often -- and I know it seems dumb to mention it, but I like giving a fair warning that I tend to think critically about things, even if I enjoy them, and I've learned that isn't everyone's jam. I don't really think I plan on continuing on into professional academia though, no jobs and a lot of unpaid hours toiling over work just so you can get work :T I finished hair school, chucked the degree on the pile, and got a job teaching kids how to read.(YAY things) Drawing, singing (though I can't really), writing, ladies, facial hair, piercings, tattoos, British comedy (Black Books, Red Dwarf, The Young Ones, Fawlty Towers, QI, other panel shows, etc), video games (especially old school rpgs), stupid cartoons, comic books, Old sci-fi stuff, history, debating, politics, dancing, stupid stuff on internet, and pretty much every genre of music. I even like some country! (NAY things) Wet shoes, snow, Extreme Right wingers, Libertarians, sexist/homophobic/racist/transphobic jerks, god damned men's rights activists, Juggalos, Math, Earwigs, gut rot, hangovers, carrots (I'm allergic), Exams, People that can't take the time to actually type two extra letters in words such as You, and Are. People that post pictures of just their torso and their car on dating sites, and other stuff. What I am looking for in a person? I'm really into folks that look as though they survived a zombie apocalypse and won. Also, Good beards for the beard bonus point round and ladies that are taller than me.Snap, I dunno. Sit around while chatting and getting to know each other? Go for a walk and get some coffee? First dates are kind of hard. But if we go to Karaoke I promise you a hilarious time!Or you could teach me how to ride a bike? That is totally not some clever euphemism either -- I seriously don't know how to ride a bike and I really want to learn!

Woman. 46 years old. Zodiac sign: Scorpio.
Looking for: man. In age: 36-56
It is always fun to meet the occassional new person, broaden one's horizons, act outside the box etc. Reviewing summer, I went to many ole favaourite lakes, Durance and Cameron, several times, and I made it to one new, to me, lake - Spectacle Lake. I went camping five times between May and August, and aim to camp more next summer. Cycling is something I really enjoy, and is so much more fun to do with at least one other person, and I got to cycle with my kid a fair bit this past spring and summer. I have a very nice Italian custom-made road bike I brought back from Italy. I also spent three years in Japan. I like planning, and am pretty organized, and my two career paths (education and mental health and addictions) are slowly coming to harmonize in a very meaningful way for me. Apparently compatible with Libra, Aquarius, Gemini, Capricorn, late Cancer and late Virgo if you are interested in the Astrology take. Monkeys like me are known to play well with rats and dragons too. I am the oldest child and am most compatible with the youngest or the only child. Since doing triathlons in Japan, and biking long in Italy, I now work on being satisfied with the lesser amount of exercise freedom I have since my awesome kid was born in ***single mom by choice). When my kid is in his Karate class, I am watching from a stationary bike or a yoga mat. When my kid is in his swimming lessons, I savour vigorous laps for the precious 30 minutes. When my kid is in his tennis lesson, I yoga. I teach yoga, as a sub, whenever I can too. I have my kid full-time, and am just starting to see glimpses of the potential to get more exercise - perhaps I will be doing triathlons with my son one day. So my favourite thing to do with a new person would be to exercise together, even if just at conversation pace. I have also started mindful meditation practice, with a group, this winter too. What makes me unique....I don't have tattoos and I don't want any. I don't drink coffee regularity, but if I do drink coffee, it has to be a decaf. Having a very keen sense of smell, coffee and garlic breath bother me. I have a bit of a Tomboy personality, but I do not swear, use derogatory humour, or assumptions, aimed at anybody. I succeed at some minor house hold improvements, such as putting up my own curtain rods or waterproofing my own pic-nic table. I would like to make my own shoe rack/tower one day. I do like being womanly, and take some pride in my appearance without feeling I need make-up- hey at least it is not going to get any worse. I am not the "princess" type, yet do not mind a door being opened for me or a tea being bought for me. I am usually pretty open-minded. I am told I have a great sense of humour and I really like it when I can make people laugh and smile. I aim to improve myself in various ways. Be the improvement in my diet (already no pork, beef, heavy carbs, white death (white sugar) or regular dairy consumption), parenting, social interactions, furniture arrangement, manners, personal hygiene or facial tics; I am always looking to improve myself ;) I like cooking. I am frequently told by my kid and my friends that I am a good cook. I like making Japanese food sometimes, like miso soup. I also make my own homemade granola bars with coconut oil *** butter, and homemade museli with my own roasted pecans. Now that it is colder, I make soup from my own stock. I am detail-oriented, and I value communication. I'm an occasional Walmart and Costco shopper (so why don't you shoot me baby!), yet am highly considering going vegan. Very occasional drinker. I don't like to socialize at bars. I aim for balance in diet, lifestyle, and on the yoga mat ;)I value friendship. I am not against getting into a sexual relationship, but it is definitely not the be all, end all for me - yet by no means am I asexual (interesting documentary titled by the very word, by the way). Most of my relationships start with friendship, and end with sometimes an even better friendship. My intention here is to make another friend, possibly more over time. I am not into internet chatting. Just *** enough, and what I aim for is less time in front of sceens. I do like to talk on the phone though, see if we get along voice to voice before stepping it up to face to face. ***, word processing and work related computer time is more than enough screen time. Yoga music is nice, like Shastro and Down City Dwellers. I used to think the best music is that that you can dance to, but over the years I have come to appreciate the mellower melodies as well. I pretty much enjoy most kinds of music except for rap and some country. Most of my listening when I need to drive (I prefer to cycle when distance and weather permit) is to CBC radio. My kid loves the Zucchero CD I brought back from Italy. I stay away from big concerts with big crowds that are really loud. I've volunteered at Bluegrass Music festivals a lot, and enjoy the Bluegrass Festival atmosphere. I will not respond to those with no pictures, near naked pictures, all distant pictures, or pictures with big sunglasses on.Meeting somebody is not a date to me - much too strong of a word. I would call it "meeting," and we can figure it out together...It is nice to check out each others voices over the phone before meeting. Guaranteed if we don't like each others voices, we will not like each other in person either.
