About Me
"Talk not of wasted affection, affection never was wasted;;"-From "; If you're reading this, I encourage you to read to the end. It might be long, but that's simply because at my heart, words are my expression, and I love using them. If you can read the entire thing, I believe it will help you make the most informed decision as to whether or not to send a message. Music is my first language and my love. I don't play any ***, a tragedy I firmly blame on my parents to this day, but I do sing and people who can play tend to melt my heart, especially piano and guitar. If you can teach someone how to play, you absolutely must send me a message. Now. College is expensive, and 2. Music Theory whooped my behind and made me cry like a little girl. I am still working on college, honestly, simply because I received no parental help and very little help from other sources, also because I see no point in wasting money if I haven't settled on a career path. I am far too easily enthralled and fascinated to choose a career path or major just yet, but I'm getting closer. And, in any case, I'll be going back to school next semester just to start working on it and exploring. My taste in music is a large indicator, I think of compatibility. Not to say that if you like heavy metal music I won't talk to you, simply that I believe music and musical taste is a reflection of the listener. I prefer Indie/Acoustic/Folk-type things. The list really could go on forever. If you're curious whether or not I like a particular band/act/singer, just ask. Chances are that I have found something I can at least appreciate about them. My older sister recently got married and it made me realize how much I do miss being in a relationship. I don't believe in people completing each other, I don't believe in soulmates, (at least not as a romantic notion), and I don't believe in the necessity of romantic partnership. That said, I do enjoy and prefer the company of a partner, a best friend, etc. I also have a younger sister who is not a sister "by blood", but I don't believe that blood family is the most important kind of family. She's sixteen and extremely important to me. I am her role model and confidante, and so anyone who would like to be exclusive with me must meet the standards of a rather picky teenager. (Don't worry, as far as teenagers go, she's the best one I've met yet).Faith is important to me. I identify as a Christian. Some may have preconceived notions of what "Christian" means, and I can assure you, I break almost all of those stereotypes. (Not every single one, but enough of them.) I believe in social justice, true equality, political activism as a means of achieving freedom for all people, sustainable/ethical practices, and other such things. Many Conservative Evangelicals would call me "liberal", I'm sure. I don't identify with parties, but I would say I'm politically minded. If you aren't or just aren't interested, we may not have much to talk about. I don't tolerate apathetic people very well, as a rule, simply because I am someone who easily becomes impassioned about the world around me.I have recently taken an initiative to become a healthier, more whole individual. I take a very holistic approach to achieving this health. At the beginning of this year, I was basically treating my body like trash.-runner straight off the bat, that's not me. I pull from a lot of Eastern Medicine practices like meditation and Ayurvedic Medicine, (yes, even as a Christian). So far, I have quit smoking, (a ten year habit broken), quit drinking soda pop, started drinking a LOT of water, started walking, and started cooking with as much real food as possible. I believe in ethical practices and sustainable farming, as well as supporting local agriculture. My goal, one day, is to be eating a completely organic diet., Farmer's Markets, my KitchenAid stand mixer (life saver), Doctor Who (I dream of having a TARDIS), first snows, hot apple cider, baking, cooking, and crafting.Because a lot of people like to ask, I figure I'll add this next section last and see who read the whole thing. ;)What I'm looking for: I am looking for someone intelligent, both academically and emotionally. I am looking for someone compassionate and good-hearted, someone who -preferably- loves Jesus Christ and uses that love to spur their life's mission. I am looking for someone who sees and appreciates the beauty in this world, someone who has a bit of a nerd side but doesn't allow that to isolate them from the beauty of other people. I am looking for someone who has their own story of redemption and brokenness and can be understanding toward my story and my current situation. I am looking for someone who encourages me to be better, who hopes for the future, who is eager to have a great romance filled with questions and comparing and discussions of the things of life. An adventurer, a best friend, a lover, a shoulder to cry on and a pair of arms to hold me close. That's what I'm looking for. It depends on what our mutual interests are.
