About me: Dry, sarcastic wit (when appropriate. Actually, scratch that. Plenty of times when it's not appropriate...). Love laughing more than just about anything. Kind, considerate, loving and always polite and honest (Yes, you can be both of these!!). Passionate about my beliefs but always open to learning and change. Happy with a positive outlook (most of the time).I love my job as a server at an almost-fine dining (linen tablecloths, unique and creative menu items, good wine list, etc.) restaurant. I'll more than likely get back into education (was a high school Spanish teacher for nine years) within a few years because I loooooooooove teaching and am passionate about it. Though I do carry a few extra pounds (have probably lost at least ten since any of my profile pics were taken), I don't get winded easily, do work out and LOVE playing: catch, tennis, bocce, volleyball, football, soccer, softball, whatever. What I'm looking for: A strong woman who doesn't mind being treated like a lady. Someone that likes to be pampered and doesn't mind reciprocating. Someone that can make me laugh, laughs at and with me and herself, and can stimulate and challenge me intellectually. Someone that loves going out (to a dive bar or nice restaurant, to a county fair or a museum, for a nice stroll down a country road or on a hastily planned road trip to NYC) but appreciates a quiet night at home in each other's company. If you know the difference between there, their and they're (or at least know that there is a difference), that helps. By the way, fish lips are only a turn-on for the kinds of guys you probably don't want to meet and bathroom mirror selfies are gross for a million reasons. (My favorite find on meetville thus far was a pic I found which contains a nasty bathroom mirror and what looks to be a toddler playing in a toilet bowl in the background. Thank god for screen capture!!)I live in a relatively large self-contained in-law apartment in my mother and step-father's house. Just figured I'd mention that now because it would be really awkward to bring it up after we had been talking for a while. Not to qualify too much, but I live there by choice-- a choice I'm happy with-- and I have owned my own home, so I'm not some can't-get-my-(stuff)-together dude in his late 30's. Music: Anything at all that's got something to say and/or has great harmony and/or makes you wanna blast it and dance like a fool. My first love, however, is mid-90's NY hip hop (Nas, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Gangstarr). After that it's probably bluegrass, especially with female singers and great harmony.!TV: Not wild about the people behaving badly genre of reality tv (depending on the day and my mood), but I do watch some worthless nonsense. I mostly watch sitcoms (Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation) on Netflix because they are funny and oddly comforting. Movies: Superhero action, foreign horror, quirky or political documentaries, tear-jerking rom coms.One more thing (if you've actually read this far-- I'll give you a medal and an Advil when we meet): Though my profile says I'm looking for a long-term relationship, that's not all I'm looking for. On top of that, I'm not looking to jump into something. So, I'm a cool with just chatting and (preferably) talking on the phone. Getting together for a good convo and just hanging out. Casual dating (and no, that's not code). Making new friends and leaving it at friendship. But, if things do ever get serious, I am an honest and faithful one woman man. A coffee house or something similar so we could hold a decent conversation and get to know each other a bit; and that will allow for a quick exit should either of us need it.
