Hi, I'm Brett...and since you're actually reading this then I suppose I've captured your attention (and I'd imagine you must like dogs)...now let's see if you make it to the end my sales pitch :)Let's get the bad out of the way first...weed out those of you who would probably want to strangle me within 20 minutes:I am outspoken...well, let's be honest...loud and blunt. I tend to be opinionated and regardless of whether I'm right or wrong I'm quite skilled at hijacking attention - I basically have no filter. I usually say what everyone else is thinking but know better not to say....whether or not this is a character flaw or comic genius is a matter of opinion I guess but at this point it's unlikely to change so you should probably proceed with caution :) I'm sarcastic and probably a little douchey sometimes...usually not on purpose but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't an a**hole occasionally....however:; I'm always aware of what I'm doing and don't consider myself to be mean or cruel...it's all in good fun. Still..if you're not amused by constant joking around and the occasional unpredictable mood swing we're probably not a match.I've been told (usually by family members and close friends) that whomever I end up with will need to be both patient and have a thick skin to put up with my crap.Under the blunt grizzly bear there does exist a softer, gentler man who knows how to treat a woman properly and is both loyal and honest...I'm old school when it comes to holding doors, paying for dinner, and (gasp) even defending the honor of my girl if necessary. I rarely have trouble getting along with new people so introducing me to your friends and family won't be scary, I promise...I have a decent sized family - I like to think I play the role of Uncle fairly well. I do like kids and have no problem if the person I'm with has them or if they like to have them.;- I really love living in WNY and have no plans on leaving.I own my home and have a stable, full-time job in the IT/security field as well as work for myself on the side in IT, automotive repair, and a variety of other things. I'm always involved in some sort of project and rarely sit around and do nothing. In other words - I work a lot; I have been working a lot for a long time and I don;t mind it. I can and will make time for someone but you'll need to have some patience and understanding that I have an erratic and busy schedule. That said...for the right someone I'll make time :)I enjoy both city life and the country - There is electricity and (sort of) running water there but it's fairly rustic...I'll eventually take it over and plan to always go there as much as possible - whomever I'm with should like the outdoors and be okay with a little bit of rustic living a few times per year.I have a dog (Max) who's 7 as of now ***and will likely always have one or more dogs. I've had cats in the past and don't mind them either; pets are an important part of my life and I'd hope that the woman I'm with would enjoy them too.I clean up okay when necessary but in my off time for the most part I'm usually wearing the same tattered old shirts with dopey one-liners on them.....I get my low--end at Target. You'll need to have a LOT of patience to be with me - I can be a very frustrating and stubborn man. I've been on my own since I was 18, I'm set in my ways and I resist change...but I'm willing to try, you just have to bear with me...fair warning though - if you want someone you can "fix" I'd recommend moving on, I'm beyond repair at this point ;)I definitely enjoy a good argument from time to time but do quickly lose patience when I have to spend hours prying what's wrong out of someone because they won't just say it. I prefer to discuss things and solve problems rather than let them go until they become catastrophes. I know that the concept of "; is a reality and that a certain amount of compromise and understanding is important in a strong relationship, but communication is the key and I can't read minds. I want someone who's not afraid to say what they feel. I'll extend the same courtesy - if I'm upset, you'll know.As I said before I am traditional in that I like to take care of the woman I'm with but there are limits...I'm not interested in someone who will be completely dependent on me in every way. Self-confidence and intelligence are very attractive me - more so than helplessness.I'm an open book - secrets and lies do nothing but complicate things; everyone has a past - good and bad - it defines us so why hide it? Ask me anything - but be sure you want to know the answer because I assure you, you'll get one.If none of the above has scared you too much (Really, it's a lot more bark than bite...I promise) then send me a message and we'll see where it goes. Coffee..Timmy Hos or something informal but public where we can actually talk. Hard to see if there's a connection sitting in a dark movie theater and not talking. We'll keep it simple...sadly, sometimes there just isn't chemistry when meeting in person so I prefer to make it easy on us both - I'll spring for the coffee, we'll chat and get to know each other a little and see how it goes.
