About Me

I went back to school when I was 30, and it was the best choice I ever made. Now I have a job where I can be creative and learn new things every day. In general, that's how I approach my life. If I don't like how things are going, I fix it. There is no point in putting up with a broken situation. I try to keep working on myself and my life, making things better. This doesn't mean I don't know how to relax. I'm happy as a clam bundled up on my couch with a cup of coffee and a good movie. I work hard and I know how to rest. Otherwise, I'm a responsible adult with my own house. I take care of myself, and am not looking for anyone else to take care of me, nor am I looking to take care of anyone else. By our age, we should be all set with that.I often volunteer for local theater productions, occasionally as a performer, but more often working backstage. I've had the theater "bug" since I was a kid, having been raised in a family that did theater. It was my college major the first time I went through school. I love to laugh and have a quirky sense of humor. Bad puns make me laugh big time. I also get very passionate (i.e. pissed off) about politics. An intense discussion about that gets me going as well. If we can have a good conversation, we're 75% of the way there to being a good match. I'm attracted to a wide variety of "types". The only type that won't work for me? Closet cases. I'm totallly out. That doesn't mean I'm an in-your- The best part about being out? Everyone knows already, so I don't have to say anything about it at all, and rarely do. Mutual attraction and intimacy is an important part of a relationship for me.;good, giving, and game", and hope to find someone with a similar attitude. And now for a little rant about dating. As intelligent and independent as lesbians tend to be, I think as women, we aren't socialized to know how to date very well. I find some women don't even know what dating means. So let me define what it means for me: dating is spending time with someone in order to find out if you might want to form a relationship with that person. Dating is not a relationship. As far as relationships go, I prefer to start at the beginning, not the end. That is, gradually get closer to someone, not jump right into a mini marriage because I secretly hold stock in U-Haul. If this is actually what you mean by "dating but nothing serious", let's talk. If, in fact, you mean something else, such as casual sex but no relationship, or friendship only and no sex, please specify that, because neither of those will work for me. This concludes my rant. Afterwards, we're still not done talking, and it's a beautiful evening, so we go for a walk on the riverwalk or Grey's Lake. We would be reluctant to part for the evening, since we're having such a good time.

Fortunate enough to have a job I love, and in this day and age that is nothing to take for granted! I am a professor of history at a local community college, and I learn new things about the world and about myself every day. Love my home and my pets***dogs who are entertaining and well-behaved. I am almost over the culture shock .Love to travel, both in the US and abroad. And I love to bicycle--long and short distances. Camp and hike every opportunity I get. When I'm not out enjoying nature, you can find me on the couch reading and enjoying my wood burning stove in the winter, or in my hammock after gardening in the summer. Optimistic by nature, I'm looking for someone equally optimistic, active, curious, and well-read to enjoy life together. I would be equally happy widening my circle of friends as I would be with finding Ms. Right. I am not someone who is looking for a woman to complete myself, but someone to share the joy of life with.
