It doesn't have to cost anything. Like going for a walk somewhere, or to the beach, or even act like kids and swing on the swingset at the playground. It's just a first date, there will always be more time to be serious and go on dinner dates and whatnot. But I like to get to know people first. Dinner cooked at his house would even be great! There is no one right or perfect answer.
