Figured it was time to update and condense. So here goes.SummaryIt's impossible to list any positive or interesting traits I might possess. Surely that's for other people to decide? It's an entirely subjective matter. However, I'm a contented creature with an odd sense of humour, a penchant for reason and logic with a relaxed approach to life. Often found deep in thought or scurrying around in the middle of the night in search of food. I live by strict personal morals and believe in love, laughter and truth. These things make me happy.As for employment, I'm currently a chef, but also lead guitars in a local band.HobbiesFirst and foremost, I am a musician. Through and through. I'm interested in music production and technology, as well as building/restoring guitars.Former extreme sports enthusiast, mainly mountain biking. This is something I'd like to start doing again when the weather improves and I'm fit enough.Bit of a tech geek. I enjoy fiddling with computers, and I suppose I could be called a gamer of sorts. It's strictly casual.Quite the film buff. With the exception of a few truly awful ones, there's not much I won't sit and watch. Dependent on mood, I may wish for something stimulating and thought-provoking, or I may wish to switch off and have my attention vaguely held by loud noises and bright colours.Lastly, I read a lot. Both fiction and non-fiction. I have a bit of a Rubik's complex, so I need to be constantly stimulated. Puzzles and such.MiscellaneousFun facts:- I'm addicted to caffeine, more so than any other substance on the planet- I own a ridiculous amount of musical equipment (well, I don't think so, but apparently 17 guitars is too many)- I own two gerbils, and they are my best friends- Collects vinyl like a loser- Mess drives me insane, despite usually living in a mass of cables and pedals- I do odd things for odd reasons that to me seem entirely logicalPeeves:- Self-righteous people- Banality in conversation- Illiteracy- Misuse of the label "metal"- The majority of human beings- Cruelty to animals- Decaffeinated beverages- Awful, awful musicI feel I need to expand on things I hate. You women seem quite content to criticise, so I should be granted the same courtesy. So here we go. Rules for conversation:- I hate banality and formality. Having read a vast cross-section of profiles, a recurring trend seems to be "Be original. Think of something other than 'Hey, how are you'". This works both ways. It's a conversational dead-end. If you're not going to make the effort to at least be interesting, I'm not going to make the effort to engage. It makes me want to brain myself on the nearest sturdy object or go and live on the moon by myself.- I despise close-mindedness and rudeness. Yeah, I'm a guy. Yes, I realise that SOME of us are arrogant, single-minded morons. And yes, that does ruin it for the rest of us that are actually half decent. No, I'm not employing some double- I'm being genuine. I understand the difference between "relationship" and "sex", and I assure you, I'm interested in the former. Meaningless intimate encounters are depressing.- I may be likely to say in a first message that I don't really know what to say. If this is the case, it's either because I honestly don't know how to approach you or you need to take a look at your own profile and determine whether there's a lack of substance therein. Conversation begins either on terms for debate or common interests. Writing about yourself is not difficult. You've been you for as long as you can remember. If all you've written about yourself is "Message me to find out", you're either lazy (therefore I'm not going to make the effort to engage) or you're assuming your looks are enough to carry a conversation in lieu of a personality. This comes across as shallow, as I'm sure only the shallowest of men are going to attempt contact based solely on your appearance. You perpetuate your own negative experience with the opposite gender. Did I just blow your mind? But, I'm sure you'll be very happy together, living lives with all the depth of a spoon and all the meaning and complexity of a Beyoncé song.I'm not a hateful person, I swear. Drive out to somewhere nice, spend the day there walking and talking, then retire to the pub for a pint and a game of pool?
