Here I find myself single again after waiting 42 years to finally get married for the 1st time. See my husband passed away suddenly May ***. I was only married a short ***years but I enjoyed the security of knowing I had someone who I had committed to and who had committed to me for the rest of out lives. I don't believe I can list what I want in a man since I believe chemistry plays a large role in who I am attracted to (my husband was far from a saint but I was strongly in love with him) I usually date younger men. I am not your typical girlie girl. I have no idea how to cook,or interest in it, but love home cooked meals as well as going out to dinner, and some how always date guys who can cook. I hate to clean and I'm not into my hair and nails or wardrobe and pretty much wear my favorite pair of clogs every day. I never wanted children (or dated a man who had them) but enjoy my nieces and nephews once in a while. I've always taken care of myself financially, worked in civil service for 20 years and am now retired with a good pension. Bought my own house on the water, cars, boat, Harley etc. and then got married. My beliefs are very important to me and lean very liberal (I protested Bush's inauguration in ***and I hope to find someone who believes like me. I don't believe I'm a citizen of the United States but rather of the world. I never work out, not really into sports but like the mets. I think listing things I'm not into would be easier for me. I don't believe in war for any reason, or guns. I don't like cowboy hats, big belt buckles or country music, or wearing red, white and blue. I don't think family has to be all that important since you cant pick your family like you pick your friends. I am against prejudice of any kind and will not tolerate it. I like documentaries or programs based on true stories, over watching something that someone else made up (IE: I'm usually not into the top movies out in the movie theaters) I can't list hobbies because I usually don't do something over and over, I will try any thing once. I love traveling to new places, trying new foods, seeing new sights. I smoke and drink sometimes too much. I am an animal lover and have a giant slobbering dog and cat. (my dog passed away since i wrote this) I'm not happy all the time (like most people pretend to be on this site) Don't know what the hell I want from life or who I am. But I believe finding these things out and learning is ongoing and changing process.***Hi I'm back from about a year break from this site. When I was here I went on a couple of dates but I don't think I was ready for a relationship. I don't know if I'm ready yet for a big serious relationship but I miss spending time with a partner. Believe it or not my dog of 10 years also died since i first wrote this and I dont have the cat any more. I am still an animal lover and plan on getting some pets as soon as I'm ready. I'm hoping to meet some fellow single people my own age and if nothing else gain some solid friendships. meet for a drink

He will exhibit the fruit of the spirit in his life, enjoy having fun but is not held captive to the toys that give it to him, encourages me to share my inner most thoughts with him and listens when i do. He is my best friend, has a sense of humor, encourages me to grow and even spoils me from time to time. He puts a smile on my face even when not around, takes marriage vows seriously, understands commitment, is a good role model, leader, wise with money, realize how imperfect I am, but can over look it. He can ask for directions too! * :( About me:I am a Christian. I have been single for 7 years and have a deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, but am not religious. I was not born a Christian, but am born again! :) I am a good person but know that no matter how good I am, I could never go to Heaven on my own merit! I believe all good marriages have a few things in common; they are each others’ best friend, love in good times and bad, respect and cherish always & forgive quickly, putting God first continually. They always look for ways to keep the marriage vows fresh and exciting. I do not see people as involved in their marriage as they should be. How sad really. Nor do I see a sense of commitment. I feel it is much to easy to get a divorce today, and if one is to get it, they need to earn the right to do so. In other words, they need to have tried everything to make it work first!I also realize how easy it is now days, for a man or woman to explore the avenues of pornography online and I also know how damaging that is to a marriage, self and others and to your relationship with GOD . So, if this is an area where you find yourself at now or in the recent past, move on. I value the sanctity of marriage. I want to be desired by my husband solely and completely. Honesty is very important to me as it is to any marriage. Trust is earned and hard to regain if broken.I do not care about marrying a rich man. I care more about your heart and attitude then wealth. I would hope that we would be financially capeable to live out the rest of our life, being able to do all that Christ has called us to do. I also know that out of our obedience He will bless us. How those blessings come to us is completely up to GOD! I do however enjoy some of the finer things in life as much as the next person, and hope to be able to travel in the years I have left, but I do not let money be my GOD or dictate my happiness. I have learned to be content with plenty or little. I truly am a helpless romantic and am not afraid to display affection, after the marriage and not just in the dating period! It seems that many marriages fail because romance died after the wedding. It is as crucial as sexual fulfillment. Let's make dinner together, light some candles, put on some soft music and well you get the picture. I am down to earth but can pull off the sophistication needed for a business or a dinner party. I enjoy putting on blue jeans and working in the garden as much as I enjoy wearing an evening gown. I can turn up the music in the car, roll down the windows and get silly about it, but know when to be more reserved. I have a warped sense of humor at times, enjoy laughter and I tend to be a deep thinker. So to balance it I have to have times where I can just cut loose and have fun! I love being out doors, the smell of a wood fire, and cuddling next to it with the one I love on a cold winters night. I enjoy hiking in the woods or sitting on a boat in the middle of a lake fishing, watching a sunset and wondering what GOD was thinking when He made it all. Though I have this country girl side to me, I also balance it out with my love for the city. I enjoy going there to eat or shop, see a concert or attend other events, but at the end of the day, I love coming home to the peace and quiet and fresh air that country life has to offer. I enjoy the holidays and all the fuss that goes into decorating and planning for them. I like sharing them with family friends and those who have no one to be with. But I must admit, since being single, I have not enjoyed them as much. Something is missing, and that something might be you!I have been told that I have beautiful eyes and a smile that lights up the room when I walk into it. I am not so sure.....you be the judge of that! :) People guess my age to be younger than I am. lol Not sure if they are being honest or just saying it, but I still enjoy hearing it! lol I do not have a barbie doll figure!
