I tend to be shy when first meeting people, but usually begin opening up after the first date or two (depending on my level of comfort with the person, maybe sooner!) I'm traditional when it comes to general dating norms, so I will not contact a man first and I expect the man to ask me out, decide where to go, open doors for me, pay for dinner (or for whatever activity/ place he takes me), etc. Once we're past the first stages of dating, I am more liberal and will pay for things and reciprocate in terms of making decisions and plans and such. It turns out people surprise me, so I try not to make too many assumptions based on profiles on dating sites...they're good as a guide, but can be misleading! I am, however, a big believer in my own *** first meeting someone in person, so I would say let's grab a coffee or go for a stroll somewhere, and see what happens from there. No one is perfect, and I don't have a long list of requirements for a man to meet in order to consider him a suitable partner. I like to keep things simple, and give people the benefit of the doubt. More often than not, this approach leaves me vulnerable to being taken advantage of, but hey, that's life. I'm not going to close off my heart and assume the worst of people just because I've been burned before. I take the bad with the good, keep my standards high, and expectations reasonable. "Be spontaneous and open-minded" is my mantra when it comes to dating, so take a chance and message me if you genuinely want to get to know me, but NOT if you just want something physical, because I am not interested in a meaningless fling right now.
