About Me

I am totally naive re how dating is done nowadays. I am looking for satisfied, smart men who have been through perhaps tough times - but have come out the other side still intact. I am a newbie (though learning as I go) to this all. Looking for honesty and guidance as I find my bearings. Up front I have to admit that I am a bookworm. I like nothing more than getting lost in a good read. Given the choice I will most often choose a book over television. Though I love a night out with dinner and a movie. As I've gotten older I'v become more content with the simple things in life. I've hit all career aspirations, my children are on the cusp of independence - well, emotionally at least... I really like what I do (clinical psychologist working in the field of test development) and feel like I am entering a new chapter of life. I am newly single and have no idea how to be single again. The rules, expectations and process are new and foriegn to say nothing about the fact that I am 20 years older then I was last - single. So I am in the mode of exploration. I hope for great adventures! Looking for someone to accompany me on the way! I am looking for someone I relate to well as a friend...thereafter we will see where things go.! Perhaps a cup of coffee somewhere off the beaten track (not Starbucks!)....)I need some guidance here as I have not been on a date for a really long time!

    Ahh... the empty nest. So much freedom, but it would be so much more fun with a companion!And what might that ideal companion look like? Well, I've been around the block enough to know that this is not the kind of thing for which I can make a wish list....if I do, I'll miss out on the unexpected serendipitous match. But there are a few things I do know....You must be a light or non-drinker. Alcohol Has not been a part of my life for nearly 10 years, and it can't be a big part of yours... Recently, I've started singing in a vocal ensemble again and am having fun, although I don't seem to be the virtuoso I remembered I was.....! I am a compassionate person, and appreciate that quality in others. Having a positive outlook on life, seeing the glass as half-full, rather than half-empty, is very important to me. But when it comes down to it, my wish list comes to down to two things. I think it's all about that magical combination of companionship and compatibility, however it comes about! It doesn't seem to work if it's only one or the other. I'd love to hear from you if you think your wish list might match mine. Coffee at the Farmer's market, then a walk around the pier is a great way to get to know each other!
