Could this be the story of us?It's Saturday morning. You are cuddled behind me, your arm draped over the small of my waist. Sunlight streams in the window, warming the bedroom. Today feels great for a road trip. As I make breakfast, you surprise me with a hug from behind; I melt into your strong embrace. You load the car then off we go. You drive; I navigate . . . not that we have a specific destination in mind. We are both the curious type who enjoy people, travel, and exploring.We pull off the road for anything, especially photography. The pictures will become art for our home or the subject of my watercolor paintings. You are creative too. Lunch is at a tiny café, all locals. We browse a quaint downtown. Back on the road again. You see a sign for a trail. Am I game? Sure! The hike is moderate. (You save the tough hikes for guy-time.) You find it charming that I squeal like a girl when I see a beautiful flower, tree or cloudscape. You pull me close and we breathe in the beauty.On the way home we listen to music, chatting or in companionable silence, but we never stop touching. It is how we show our love, always touching, caressing, embracing, kissing, even in public.It's date night. You choose a musical because that makes me smile. I wear a little black dress that shows off my figure and legs, kept shapely with exercise. I look so beautiful, you feel your breath catch in your chest and your heart swells with adoration. You happily wear a suit because I find it so sexy (and you know it won't stay on long after we get home!) You love how my eyes light up when you walk in the room so you exercise and eat healthy too. And it makes you happy to surprise me with little gifts. You feel pleasure and pride when I am thrilled with your thoughtfulness. Sometimes your gifts for me are acts, like getting my car's oil changed or stopping by the grocery store on your way home. I feel deep appreciation for having a man as great as you. I am your arm candy and you are my hero.I love to cook and you love to eat so it's perfect. Fine dining is always an option but sometimes a hole-in-the-wall place feels right. Wine and dancing are fun too, especially since we took dance lessons together. Our kids are older and independent; our jobs give us freedom to create the life that feels good to us. We both have a spiritual grounding and a loving relationship with God but not a dogmatic religious view that requires being "saved".You smile at my endearing quirks, like dancing in the kitchen or struggling with electronic gadgets. You are not the least bit intimidated that I've written several books. You feel it is a huge compliment that a woman as pretty and intelligent as me chose you. I respect you and admire your success, professionally and financially. We enjoy quality without being materialistic. Money is never a problem. You can fix anything, although we hire others for what you don't enjoy doing.I feel protected, provided and cared for by you. You love my bright smile and sunny disposition, that I don't whine, am not a victim and I communicate clearly without blaming.
